The 3D printer thread

Achievement unlocked: plastic flavored toast
finally got a chance to tinker with this west3D toaster, and overall I’m pretty happy with it. Temps appear to be accurate and it’s easy to use. I bought a microwave rack for it to sit on since it front loads and my printer bench is a ****ing disaster 110% of the time haha.

My only gripes with it are that it has a relay in it that is loud as ****, so be ready to listen to it click all day if you’ve got it parked in a space you occupy frequently. It also retains the end of cycle beep from its toaster origins, which I don’t really prefer since I can hear it from my bedroom upstairs. I’m not sure if that can be disabled or if I’m gonna have to attack the little piezo with a screwdriver.

It draws about 6.5A at peak load, which is a little sketchy for how much load this house already has on that 15A circuit. I may end up moving it to the basement and using it only to dry/anneal higher end materials, and just printing out of my little creality dryer. Prob gonna wait for the breaker to tell me I need to do that though lol

May have lucked out, when the wife bought it, she got a free 2yr warranty upgrade from the sale.

put in a support request. but their main page says this stuff is only 3mo warranty, so we'll see. Creality doesn't sell the magnetic part seperate, only comes with the whole bed heater assembly. Looks like there are some aftermarket replacements on amazon..

I've got this, comes with a new magnet. It's currently on the side of my refrigerator, I just needed the PEI plate.

Not sure how much is covered under that 2 yr warranty? Transmission gear on my extruder broke in the first 2 weeks of using it, but my purchase date was over 3 months prior. I didn't get the thing out of the box for a while before using it. At first, they agreed with me that it failed too soon, then I gave them my order number, and they told me tough luck, it's been more than 3 months, and provided a link to purchase an entire new extruder from them.

Sounds like an excuse to do the graphite bed upgrade 😉

Just happened to have an extra camera laying up there waiting to be installed for my security system. Pugged it into the NRV. The fan is really quiet, though. I doubt it will be eventful..I hope, but the trap is set.

Man I looked at one a while back and the bed upgrade cost as much as the entire machine.. so I haven't looked at any more.

Got a link?

Fyi I slapped the bed plate back on anyways and printed my print. 11hr print, went awesome.

I just fat fingered the radius in the part and made it 6.75" od instead of the 5.75" od I need. There goes half a spool of asa, glad it's cheap!

Got a link?
This one seems to be the go to

In for results for potential litter dust mitigation ideas

That's not bad.

Currently creality is arguing about me having a 2 year warranty as stated on my invoice, they insist they don't offer a 2 year.

I'd like to get the parts out of them, but I think I'm gonna buy that graphite bed too. Thanks.

Edit: damn almost $40 shipping/tarrif for that bed

last night I was working on some stuff and was wishing that I had a better tool for layout for what I was doing
****, I have a printer
designed it, and have it to work with this morning :grinpimp:

BOught some magnet wire. Designed a solenoid frame on tinkercad. Made an electromagnet. Working on an ir sensor triggered-arduino processed mousetrap idea. The solenoid is going to let loose the death machine. 4 wraps of wire pulls quite a bit. Need to add some layers to the tube due to flexing when wrapping the wire with cordless drill

Now we wait.
Saved for the 3d printer my wife is getting for our anniversary 😄

Got bored of the light shade above my dining table so decided to print another one. Not my design, I just scaled it up (14" tall) and it conveniently fit the existing hanging fixture. 900g of filament. The light filters through nicely, you're not looking directly at the globe.

fail for not habing a goatse image on one of those.

so the elegoo machine prints TPU fine if you print a new hood for the canvas unit to bypass it.
just unplug the canvas and the machine defaults to external spool. can now switch it off and change to external feed in a minute.

gaskets achieved.
you'll note the new gold colored build plate.
don't print tpu on a smooth pla plate or you'll have a bad time.
:homer:
they seem to work fine, I've printed tpu and petg on them. $25 for a two pack on amazon. g-hubble or something.

in other news, 3d printed ar9 is fully functional. the brace did not survive. A new one has been printed.
but then I found an endcap that has the hinge built in, so the nylon is cooking right now.

Auto closing doors on my cordless tool cabinet (ex flammables cabinet) are a PITFA most of the time, but are nice that the cabinet stays closed.

I spun up some hinged door-stops in SW and the FF pooped them out.

Probably could have gone a tad tighter on the print in place hinge clearances (currently @ .020) but it works great! I'm freaking stoked.

Why do you need a fan to blow the smell of cat piss and **** around the house? Isn’t the idea of the enclosed litter box to contain the smell?
