What's new

Future of KOH 4400 chassis/car development?

They are using the aluminum Tube works 3rd in the rear of the car. That tells me that the aluminum 3rd isn't weak like we discussed earlier.

You can do that and get away with it if your not driving a golfcart. :flipoff2:
Definitely some truth in that statement since various people were penalized differently for the same thing.

I’d build the mystery machine to try something new and different. I used to be dead set on KISS and doing what’s tried and true. But with my last two builds I’ve become a firm believer in the IFS even in the rocks.
Makes sense to me for sure. There is definitely majors advantages of IFS in the nuisance rocks.

Drool, that is all.

Here’s a fun hypothetical. Rich Aunt/Uncle you didn’t know dies and leaves 1 million to you to fund a 4400 entry for KOH 2025.

Do you build the IBB Mystery Machine, or buy that $250k Gomez car or one of the two Campbell cars ($285k Crofts or $250k Shannon’s) or throw money at Erik Miller/buy John Grounds Miller car for $250k or throw money at Slawson??
Build the mystery machine, but with a V8 cause if i'm a millionaire its gotta at least sound cool until I run out of talent at RM 15 and wad it up

Found it.......

An LS in a small chassis sounds cool and all but in reality it's probably completely useless, especially for rock crawling.

If the goal was to be as competitive as possible, I'd do this:

id write UFO a check for $500k for an arrive and drive program. Single seat, BB power and Fox. dealers choice for everything else

It would get me a fully supported program to actually start, drive, and finish the race. Having the car is only one portion of success here, the race program is another huge portion. Especially since the driver portion (me) would really suck in this situation. :lmao:

BUT...

If the goal was just "I need to own a competitive vehicle, and the rest is on me" I'd write Randy a check for a race ready Bomber and a full complement of spare parts. Then I'd cover the cost for transport, fuel, RV rental, parts, food, beer, etc to bring a bunch of friends and have one hell of a redneck DIY race experience.

Then I'd also own the Bomber to wheel afterwards.

It would probably take the full $1M check to get a $500k car and a full pro-level race program...

for 2weeks at KOH? no way unless its a go away youre getting a go away pricing.

if used is $250k, new would be in the $500-600k range.

Buy older proven reliable car, learn to drive it and the course. Race it 1 or 2 years and learn everything I can. Then go after something serious and hopefully have some sponsors to help by then.

Or if it's a million for 1 shot, buy the best car within budget and a older car to beat up prerunning and learning the course. Prepare the best you can, try and get someone with experience on your team and send it.

I guess I'll never race cause I can hardly afford my 4 banger turd box let alone 2 race cars😂

That's a very logical appraoch.

Sounds like a good deal
Agreed on good deal overall. Allen Racing has a Legends class rental for KOH 2025. Cost is $20k fully prepped, with the renter responsible for any repairs after the race.
