2006 overland / light duty crawler build

little update on the ram assist, pump is definitely happier. plus I can cruise down the bumpy ass 25 out here at 75mph comfortably while barely paying attention to the wheel with one hand. well worth it
Awesome! glad to hear it!! do you think it slowed the steering down at all? like pulling into parking spots ect.?

Had a local shop evolution off-road build me some sliders. Wanted to match them to the rear bumper best I could so everything is 2.5 square tube from the frame to the main tube that runs under the pinch welds, from there out it’s all round tubing. Feel like it came out really nice

Really wants me to pull my steering box and tap it. Thanks for the pics, they are helpful to me for if/when I eventually get around to it. Truck is looking great.

you think its possible to retrofit a dash from a junk yard truck that came with the 7.3 into my truck, at least then I wouldn't have to worry about gauges
Just an outsiders opinion, one of the cool things I like about your build is it’s about as new as you can get while still being rugged basic and reliable… does a motor swap and the associated computer / wiring / control tomfoolery get rid of that?

FWIW i just put a tune on my 05 5.4, custom tunes from 5 star using a sct x4. 87 performance makes a noticeable difference, the jump from 87 performance to 93 performance wasn't as noticeable, not for the difference in cost in fuel. Certainly not hardcore tech but you might be surprised how the 5.4 feels with just that

You might be correct about that, and im definitely concerned about over complicating the situation. Maybe if I can just get another 5.4 with a warranty I’ll do that. Probably depends on what kind of money I’m making when it goes boom

I appreciate that, I’ll have to check that out

Ran eagle rock the other day, was a little wet, but definitely a fun one. First run with the new suspension, and steering changes. I’m really stoked with the ride, the flex, and the traction I’m getting. I was a little curious about how the 4 link kit, and shackle flip would perform, but it’s doing what I wanted it to, so I’m happy.

Also, about 300 yards into the trail the manual shift lever decided it was tired of doing its job, so I Macgyvered a new one with a wrench, a spare bolt, a pipe strap, and two pairs of vice grips. It worked, but not great…

After getting home I cut the top half of the old shifter off, and made a new one with some tube and a little bit of custom work

Ok so I’ve been shopping around for custom wiring harnesses to put the 7.3 Godzilla in this thing. I talked to ford and the motor will bolt right up to my manual transmission, but I don’t know my foot from my ass when it comes to wiring, any help would be much appreciated

"lucas_mandic" on instagram just swapped a godzilla into an 80's bronco

not sure what all he used but might be worth sending him a message

Drop in a replacement motor and add boost. Parts will be cheaper and easier to get and the Chyna turbos seem to be holding together better than fords new motors.
I'm running a 5.4 on 37s with 3.73s and an auto, I was surprised at how much better it drove with a basic custom tune. Him being 6 speed and 4.88s I bet a tune alone would be huge for 'seat of the pants' performance
