One of these days when all of my shit is in order I will. Its ugly but its 7018 so it will hold. If you ever want some pointers or to practice come by my place and ill get you dialed
Your travel speed and stick out look like thry are fine.... just skip over the middle and pause at each side for half a second. Loks like you were doing a smooth steady weave. When you get the pause down then start angling your rod a little pointing it into the sides. One of these days when all of my shit is in order I will.
Lateral move then. The old ball coupler had the tendency of not getting latched correctly .Nun Killer 3000, nice.
Also I can’t stick weld at all.
I would have guessed aluminum.Unknown grade stainless.
Ditch the 1/8 for some 3/32. Having less liquid do manage will help a lot.7018 I don't think that I've welded vertical up before today

So he whips it all over the place because a pretty weld matters more than a strong weld?I have a buddy who stick welds like most guys mig.

No he’s just that good with stick. Dude has built his own trailer back hoes and shit. Great welder. Who also makes them look amazing.
Stick welding flat is okay, but once it gets vertical or overhead…I can’t do that.
I have a buddy who stick welds like most guys mig. But it’s all he has so he makes do.
Exactly. Steel has absurd surface tension. You just kinda melt that shit and as long as you don't melt so much it falls off it globs right in there.Run your overhead exactly like you do flat. It welds exactly the same once you get past the mental part.
Hey I resemble that remarkSo he whips it all over the place because a pretty weld matters more than a strong weld?
As would I. The section below the weld that melted and almost got away from him sure looks like what aluminum does.I would have guessed aluminum.
Looks like aluminum to me but I’ve seen weirder shit
Not mine. Just some guy in the boatyard a couple weeks ago that was proud of his work. Unknown grade stainless.
