What's new

Must have M-18 tools

It's not M18, but I picked up the M12 90 degree die grinder. Pretty sweet little tool with a cutoff wheel or carbide burr bit on it. Does anyone have a link for some wire brushes that'll work?

No link but get the Roloc stuff if you haven't already, all kinds of useful stuff. The bristle disc looks interesting, may work instead of wire.

Any 1/4" smooth shank will work. They don't like the larger ones though.

Price: $3999
Yes the price seems high. But for what it does and where you can take it. It's not for everybody. MY team at work compared to the cost is minimal when we need to get a 60 ton RTU Compressor in place on a roof.

Put that fucka on a gin pole setup off of a side by side and be king of the ranch!

I may get a hoist. Plenty jobs that would come in handy, especially with the remote. Running that while operating crane or having multiple hoists to position things on complicated installs has much potential too.

I need a hammer drill. Mainly the hammer part for digging holes in the shitty dirk/ clay/shale. Are the m18 worth finding a used one? Otherwise Im looking at a few older Bosch demo hammer on Craigslist. I don’t NEED it cordless but if its close in price I’ll look at one

whatever you get, make sure it is SDS max and not SDS plus
the plus one is tiny little baby hammer and won't dig as fast

I made a bit for the sds plus from my old job but the pipe didn’t transfer the hammer enough to do much on the rocky shit

I have the sds max Milwaukee M18 FUEL ONE-KEY 18V Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 1-3/4 in. SDS-MAX Rotary Hammer (Tool-Only) 2718-20 - The Home Depot . If you don’t need cordless just pick up an older corded unit can and run it off a genny if needed. Cordless is nice but more of a convenience than a game changer with one, if it is for work and you are using it regularly spring for cordless.
It’s for my side yard. Corded is fine if I can find a good older one. Just thought I’d ask about the m18 one. Definitely NOT a new one

1/4 fuel ratchet and metric sockets for $143

My 1/2 fuel drill has that handle bar thing. I can still stall out the drill, the trigger feels any kind of binding and it just stops. That shouldn’t be normal

What batteries?

That's what happens when you overcurrent the compact batteries. Try a HO battery and I bet it doesn't happen again.

Just buy a Jeep with a Post hold digger attachment!

I've got a bosch sds max. It's a beast. I love m18, but I'd probably stick with the Bosch.

could also be the clutch not in the 'drill' position. i've accidently moved it off drill and thought wtf? a few times.

if that drill doesn't have wrist snapping power something is for sure off.

That too. I've also accidentally rotated the clutch while installing a bit.

Only two things I can think of is clutch or being in high when you need to be in low. It will power through pretty much anything in low but if you are in high it will over torque and shut off.

Assuming the battery is charged, you seem to loose about 25% of capacity once battery gets to one bar.

*I should also say/ maybe helpful to know my slant on M18 stuff....

I work with metal of all kinds for a living. this morning I was at the engine casino repairing stainless kitchen junk and now finishing up a residential handrail, and will be cutting out and start build/fiting excavator buckets by the end of the day.

what i'm saying is nothing I do is light carpentry/ gentle use. so its very rare I use anything but low gear on the drills and I only use 6,8, and 12ho batteries. all small batteries are now used by wife and kids for toys, vacuum, hot glue gun etc...

so yeah when I have a drill grab, it usually hurts a bit, and I haven't had a battery size issue in years. 90% of my m18 use is drilling and grinding.

and I would be embarrassed to admit how long it took me to figure out I moved the clutch off drill and thought the drill took a shit. I never use my drills clutch lower than 'drill' setting. so I wrapped that up with tape to never make me look that dumb again.
