Matt's Off Road Recovery.

Because there would be people on here criticizing him for not doing something different. I would think everyone would be jizzing all over their computers cause he is using a chevy drivetrain
And the correct one for the job I think.

I don't see anything wrong at this point besides the air tanks.

The build may not be too my liking but it seems pretty solid and Matt doesn't hide the failures that I can tell.

after last koh I started thinking of ways I could make a removable UTV boom for the back of my junk.

Need some airbag helper springs or something tho...

Matt's, fabrats, and layton set off the Mo-dar or fo-mo-dar. Mischief maker doesn't.
Matts and fabrats, absolutely. Layton may have grown up Mormon, but probably is not at all active in the church. I could be wrong, though.

Lol, you're more than likely wrong. I lived in the town Layton is from. Since I don't know him directly, I can't say for sure but I'm pretty positive he wears the magic undies like Paul does.

Time for “project I have no idea what I’m doing 2.0”, an s10 mini wrecker
That would be fun to try. It would have to be able to reliably run the standard hammer trails and drag a utv out with it. Bonus points if it could get there quickly, but I don't know how is balance decent suspension with the ability to go fast... Maybe deavers with Daystar airbags like all the tundra desert guys do?

I think that would be the ticket for the rear. Get deaver’s that are dialed in for the desert, then when you’re using it as a wrecker air the bags up so you’re not stuck on your bump stops. It’s not like you’re going to be towing a SXS through whoops at 60mph on the way back out.

After stuffing air bags on my pickup, I am a pretty big fan of them, and this seems like an ideal usage.
Over extending air bags is a nono, running air bags on a "slapper bar" is something I always thought was a good idea.

Run the bar backwards with the pivot at the rear of the frame like some of desert guys do for shocks. Moving the mounting point of the bag rear will help with frame flex.

Look at what Dave Chappelle did on instagram. @dirtheaddave. He has a Mazda pickup he bagged for offroad, and it looks like it works well. He has done a lot of the figuring stuff out on airbags

Dave's airbag builds are really cool. I did see some youtube video or another where he mentioned that they don't behave the same as regular springs so shock tuning is a challenge that he's still figuring out.

anyone else turn on the video that looks like it'll be wrecker vid, but then they start talking stupid other shit the whole time and shut it right back off?

i want to see build. I don't care about your road trip or stop to pick up a new back seat for a jeep

I think it's because once you're big on youtube there's pressure to release a weekley video at a set time or you risk losing whatever fancy youtube status those guys get. So you end up with a bunch of junk getting released when they don't have anything cool to show that week.

I feel like the same thing happened with lite brite.

I just hope Matt doesn't start an OnlyFans page too...

some guys would like it

i get it. If I were him, sure as shit I'd do the same to keep me on the front of the recommended vids list. but they've all but lost me for vids now. 20 minutes for 30 seconds of interest, i don't have time for that

No but it's click bait, probably counts as a view by the time you realize you been duped. I haven't watched Matt's videos in awhile and only started when they were extracting that little zuk with Fabrats. Fabrats is on thin ice too, now that they got bigger it's just not that good.

Sidenote: Fab rats getting sponsorship from Hot pockets and Mtn Dew? I know they chug dew like whoa but noticed the other day he made it a point to say how the had some great hot pockets for lunch and went back to work. Today I realized(eating a hot pocket) his line "Get after it" is literally written on the hot pocket wrapper. Hell of a coincidence:laughing:

Funny you should mention that. FabRats went from he had a job and did work on the side. Then he quit the job and was going to do work for customers full-time in his shop. Now it is all big bucks: new tools, tool boxes, wife in brand-new SUV, wife no longer has her side business, brand new tractor, brand new trailers, and on and on, plus every week he buys another project (and not freebie junkyard specials).

FabRats is epitomizing nouveau rich. Middle-class dude providing for his family with hard work. Now hit the gravy train and spending like a drunken sailor. But each video is less and less appealing. Still watching but not sure for how much longer.
I feel the same way. However, I am giving the benefit of the doubt due to his dad suddenly passing. Might have changed him to where he said "gosh golly, forgetit (Mormon for Fuckit) we're gonna live life"

Maybe not, but who really knows.

I remember watching him show how he rebuilt heads, cut valves and rebuilding a old SBC. It wasn't something ground breaking and high tech but it was interesting and genuine and doesn't seem to be that long ago. Somewhere along the way it changed and honestly when I saw them middle of the show recently doing a commercial I almost ended it there. I don't blame anyone for making it but damn, it's almost not the same show anymore.

It's kind of funny, I start watching things like this when they are pretty small and once they blow up I tend to drop them.

Its hard to hate.

If someone showed you how to 1000X your income it would be very hard to not do so. Especially coming from someone who worked for every dollar and new how hard it was to earn them.

No doubt. I don't care that they are doing well, good for them. I just feel these people all have a viscous circle. Bust ass, establish channel with good content, develop fan base, become big channel, change content, I stop following.

I did notice the change in pauls channel. I think like most things it starts as a free time passion but when it becomes the everyday routine work week maybe something gets lost. Still like his channel more than Matt's

Atleast they aren't selling mystery boxes or doing show & tell like sparks and his helicopter hour of power.

AvE, anyone? He's almost entirely quit posting anything worth watching. It worries me for him.
