What's new

Matt's Off Road Recovery.

I just had a thought. They blew it making their heavy wrecker a 2 door. Every single recovery those guys go on, they bring out a crew to film, and half the time the customer has to climb in with them to show them where to go.

Now there's nowhere to sit.

That's all.

While I see the point that they usually have a caravan, it seems like it would have been better as a crew cab.

However, it's so big and their goals are to get it to seriously gnarly spots that it may make sense to limit weight up high and not stretch the wheel base further?

I agree. I watch Matt's channel and think, "how can this guy half ass so much shit related to his job"? Running out of gas, not bringing the right gear etc. WTF?
Tourism industry.

You don't have to run a tight ship because you never see the same customers twice so repeat business doesn't matter and you're free to fuck up in front of customers all you want.

Every local business is getting away with the same shit. They're just not on Youtube.

Ed's suzuki is what got us watching. Cool what they are doing with that and the rokon. I can't argue with the half assery or silly shit like the out of gas routine. We watch Matt's more but I'd probably rather hang out with rory. Probably the camera work.

Matt's, fabrats, layton, mischiefmaker, etcetera kinda seems like one big mormon network to me at times. I can't unsee it now

Rory looks pretty competent at recovery from the 2 videos I have sat through. Competence is boring to watch. Train wrecks are fun to watch.
Me and a friend discussed this today, he wants me to edit YouTube videos of us. One group did a 25 minute video on them running a trail we run a group through in 15 minutes. No one wants to see people walk through a trail, they want carnage, winching, recovery ect.

I just hope they get Eds nugget done before he keels over. I think they went way over the top on that build. Ed will never appreciate all the work put in to that thing. I figure after Ed passes it'll be show piece at the local car show. Or at his shop. Here's hoping Ed has some good years left to enjoy that and the Rokon.

I have yet to watch any of Rudys videos.....

it was always going to be a showpiece. Ed will drive it around town, and at events they're invited to or attend, and they it will just be the equivalent of an OCC chopper. I hope they go full Litebright Nation. "hey y'all come see us at our upcoming events. Details below." I've watched none of the stuff on Ed's Nugget beyond what Fab Rats was doing.

It's annoying watching Robbie doing his 37th coat of plastic filler on that thing and the Rokon. Very Pimp My Ride, where they spread crap all over a utility vehicle. :shaking:

I definitely respect Robbie less for treating it like a Corvette. Yeah, OCC territory.

That part bummed me out too. I'm getting ready to paint my jeep and was hoping they would show a quick and dirty way to get that done. No such luck, he treated it like he was painting a foose-mobile.

I think Matt used to be a restoration/car show guy in his previous life, so he still does some stuff like that. Meanwhile, I'm over here trying to figure out the best way to spray a passable paint job in my driveway.

No hot drink, but sodas are ok. Soda places in Utah are pretty cool. :flipoff2:

Also the selection of spitless tobacco products in Utah is pretty extreme and cheap. Makes me think some of the brethren are popping a zyn on the regular.

At the risk of me becoming the "super Mormon" guy (who was the guy on the other board that spent quite a bit of time answering questions and did a good job of it?----that's at least 10 years+ ago?)

The "Word of Wisdom" is more encompassing than is commonly known. Hot drink is exactly what's in the Word of Wisdom. Like any other "culture" people interpret it however they want to. The "culture" of some of the church members is to be told exactly what they can and can't do. Others of us read and interpret what we believe is scripture along with what we believe is prophetic advice to match our lifestyles.

Any member CAN have any of those things advised against in the Word of Wisdom but we are counseled to "follow the Word of Wisdom". If you answer "yes" to following the Word of Wisdom along with a few other questions you are recommended for temple attendance. If you lie about being worthy to attend, I don't think you really get any real value out of temple attendance. Anyone's mileage and perspective may and will vary (as with any other subject where people have strong opinions)

Background from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (commonly known as the "Mormons")

If you think of the time that this revelation (up to you to decide if you believe that or not) was given, this was a pretty interesting piece of advice.

Porter Rockwell is my favorite mormon! :smokin:

That too. Can't understand why others don't just copy the trail mater setup when it seems to work so well.
