Major Bridge in Baltimore Collapses After Being Struck by Cargo Ship

That’s not pulling the top together the way the 4 point sling shown earlier is.

I get that. But the slings in that picture look like they're longer than the container, so you're looking at like a 70 degree or better sling angle. The lateral force on the container is pretty much negligible outside of the most extreme loading conditions.

To expedite removal of the under water sections why don’t they get a tow boat with one of those woo pow Cummings and a big bubba rope and tow the big sections out for the way then they can cut them up later?
Just make sure they use a kinetic rope, a soft shackle wrapped to a dring and a healthy “bump” too.

I need to remember to take pics of the D-ring mounted I welded up so I can go shit up that thread.

Big Un' Nickname given to me by my first electrical superentendant, We were working in Meeker Co in the dead of winter, I still had a power lifters body add all the clothes we wore to stay warm I was even larger than most of the rest of the crew. One night I was trying to get a panel tied in, so we could turn the lights on and I broke the bolt off. The next morning we were disassembling the panel, Gerorge came stomping in and yelled at me"Bigun did you do this? From now on you use only your thumb and 2 fingers and a 3/8s ratchet!" My foreman looked over and said ' That's what he was using!" George looked a little stunned Then fired back "From now on only your thumb and finger and someone find a 1/4 set for him to use!"
My highschool nick name was Suicidecharlie!

WashPost: FBI Opens Criminal Probe Into Maryland Bridge Collapse

The FBI has opened a federal criminal probe into the March 26 bridge collapse in Maryland, the Washington Post reported on Monday, citing two U.S. officials familiar with the matter.

The investigation will at least partly focus on the Dali cargo ship and whether its crew left the port in Baltimore knowing the ship had serious problems with its systems, the Post said.

Representatives for the FBI could not be immediately reached to comment on the report.

The head of the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board separately told Congress last week that it had interviewed key cargo ship personnel as part of its investigation of the crash.

Work to clear the wreckage and restore traffic through the Mid-Atlantic state's shipping channel is ongoing after a massive container ship lost power and crashed into a support pylon

last month, sending the bridge collapsing into the Patapsco River and killing six bridge workers.

I sware when I worked in the gulf, I saw several cranes lots larger than them on barges. I have some pics somewhere. Either I don’t remember right or they just don’t rate the good stuff.

They have talked about one giant in some harbor on the east coast but it would take months to get it prepped to move

It also depends on how big the barge is that you're setting the scrap on. They could bring in a 7500 ton crane, but the size of the pieces might be too big to deal with.
I'd bet the piece in the last picture my buddy sent me is only a few hundred tons max. But size wise, it's pretty big.
