Major Bridge in Baltimore Collapses After Being Struck by Cargo Ship

That was amazing to see. Anyone here live in Baltimore that can comment on how the vehicle traffic patterns have been affected? Is it a nightmare?
It's added 5-15 minutes of backed up traffic to the tunnels during rush hour and a all the hazardous and oversized loads now have to travel an extra 25 miles around the 695 beltway. The limit the big stuff to non rush hour between 9-3.

Non-rush hour traffic might slow a little bit more than normal before the tunnels. It hasn't changed my life much. Others probably need an extra 30 a day. If there's an accident, there's no bail out now. The bridge was a great bail out and almost always kept moving. It was a pleasant ride without the traffic retards in the tunnels, used to go that way when I wanted to see bay conditions.

Ok so not life and death like some made it out to be right after the collapse.
It's not the main vein and there are other options. If you lived right on one side and worked right on the other, it's now another 30 minutes to your trip. All the debris is cleared now. Close pic of the ship. Apparently my phone takes potato phone pics now

Well, the front fell off in this case by all means, but I was referring to the ones that are designed so the front doesn't fall off.

At least they've towed it out of the environment.

Yep, she gone. And will have tugboat escorts at the Bay Bridge. I heard that she has to stay loaded to fit under the bridge or something. Dunno if there's truth to that. Good Riddance!

Edit: Those tractor tugs are friggen badass. They have azipods underwater that spin 360 degrees and are joystick controlled. Can have full thrust in any direction. They make less wake going "backwards" and frequently stop and spin on a dime when we are out racing so they don't crush us. The operators are mostly pretty cool and a lot of them are river rats like the rest of us.

I wonder how many small businesss have gone under because they were waiting for something critical on this ship.

Isn't there some law where the customers that had freight on the ship own some portion of the total damages as well?

I had a 20' container worth about $60k coming over right about the time that happened. It dawned on me how fucked I would be if my shit were on that ship. Wouldn't kill me, but would definitely put in a bad position. :shaking:
