What's new

huge explosion in Lebanon

Old masonry silos are tough as nails. There are 3-4 on some premium commercial land here that are still standing because it is going to cost too much to take them down.

I know in today's day and age everyone is filming everything, but I am surprised how many good videos are out that capture this so well. I don't know how long it had been burning or whatever prior to the big explosion, but I wouldn't sit inside my home or on a boat filming it I dont think.

This just came in on my feed.

Whilst not combustible on its own, Nitropril supports combustion and increases the intensity of a fire.

Nitropril is not readily detonated in unconfined conditions but will react with materials such as strong reducing agents and metal powders

So while there was 2700 tons of Ammonium Nitrate, it in and of itself is not an explosive, it is a component of an explosive. Remember how dumb the movie The Fast and the Furious was when the car blew up because of the "nitrous tanks"? Anyone shoot tannerite targets? Ever put a target out there without mixing in the aluminum powder?

There was tons of an oxidizer sitting in a warehouse, what was the fuel source? Something isn't adding up; maybe "Trump's Generals" are on to something. Someone had to add a decent amount of fuel for it to explode like that. It could be an accident, maybe it was the proximity to the grain silos and years of 'grain dust' mixing with the ammonium nitrate; but I still question if that would supply enough fuel to explode like we see in the videos.

AN will shock detonate. If whatever fireworks looking stuff went off, it can set the AN off.

This was well covered, it appears and we'll have some experts come out and explain. There's a good, close up video showing it all leading up to the main explosion.

What is the actual medical cause of death for someone killed by the blast?
Is it lack of O2 from air sucked from the lungs, blunt force trauma to internal organs from air pressure, or is physical debris required to cut/impact the body and cause death?

I know nothing about how boom leads to death so help me out if you're smarter than me.

more people killed by corona virus.

Blast injury depends on proximity. Blunt force trauma is primary, either from pressure or debris. Internal organ damage and internal bleeding from overpressure as well as penetrating and crushing wounds from debris impacts

Nice. Thank you. Some of the bodies on the ground look like they didn't take a lot of damage. No blood, all put together still, etc. Got me curious.

This was freaky to watch:

Truly sad. The reaction after is . There is a deep SSDD energy that one can decipher in the body English. Wake up people. #3 has been underway.

Whoever designed and built the silos should be proud. Right next door and still standing.

Those silos held 85% of Lebanon's grain supplies. They were mostly full as you can see by the mountain of grain there, otherwise that structure would have been leveled.

Well, the British - French wars of the 18th Century were WW1

'WW1' and 'WW2' were part of the same war, and that was WW2

The Cold War was WW3

So right now we are in WW4.

Yes, WW4 is underway, but this explosion was nothing more than poor standards in a tiny country with no real room to store 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate.
