What's new

Ford Bronco Release date set

I know no one wheels a manual trans anymore, but the stick has a granny gear for almost 100:1 crawl. Gimme dat on teh base model w/ off-road package.

IFS is still a boner kill.

The IFS looks to have way more ground clearance than any solid axle would. After building and racing/wheeling a TTB buggy for the last 4 years, solid axle means a lot less to me. With my TTB anyway, even with rock crawling & trail riding, my biggest impression is that I just don't notice it. At all. It crawls just like any other solid axle rig I've built or driven, but goes fast way better.

Just don't think it's gonna be the deal breaker or turnoff that most people are predicting.

Also I purposely built my buggy with a 6-speed manual. I hate automatics, generally. The thought of the 7-speed in this thing makes me happy :)

This.

I would not call it a swing and a miss. More of just a swing and nick the ball for a foul.

Maybe if Jeep does come out with the 392 ford will come out with a v8 and maybe if enough people complain and break the ifs they will build the Super Yeti Sasquatch Moose Ape edition with a 7.3 gasser 7 speed manual and tons.

I agree. The IFS is the biggest hang up for me. It is also lame they aren't going to offer it with a 5.0L and that the 7 speed is only available on the four cylinder :shaking: It looks like it is going to be kind of big for tight, technical trails according to the spec sheet; the overall width is like 79.4" w/o mirrors on the "Sasquach" model which is about as wide as my F250

As a fellow TTB wheeler, there is no comparison between TTB and the glorified Ranger SLA suspension in the new Bronco. People laughed at me when I said I would have been more interested if the new Bronco had TTB instead of the SLA IFS, but I was being genuine. 90+% of the time Crawling, a well set up TTB does just as well as a solid axle, and from the driver's seat if feels about the same. I have about 14" of wheel travel with a bolt-on Sky jacker 4"lift, an $85 set of Rubicon Express coils, and a $65 pair of Bilstein 5100s. My rig also isn't as wide as a dually like the Raptor. Let's see someone get 14" of travel out of the new Bronco's SLA IFS for that kind of scratch...

Looks like you can get a base model with "sasquatch" package. 35s lockers, front and rear, wider track width, and 3.0 low range. With sliders and bumpers I cant see it not being capable of wheeling 95% of the trails in ca fairly effortlessly.

I wish I knew how long it will he to get a bolt in atlas. Not sure if I want the above described truck or go straight to good old leafs, tons, and 40s

I'm interested... Not a huge fan of the IFS up front, but I could maybe live with it.

Can't get a price for a base model, 4cyl/7spd w/ the 'sasquatch' :shaking: package & sliders.

I'm ok with with width - I'll rub shit on trees :lmao:

Probably not dropping 40 large on a wheeler though....15K in a couple years is doable though.

Wife's new rig is reserved.

Hadn't seen it mentioned, but from what I read, the 7 spd 1st gear is about 6.6:1 :grinpimp: so with a 3:1 tcase it's about the same as the JL crawl ratio. But you get a more broad range. I think they really made a sweet decision on that setup.

Wife and I both like it. Can’t wait to get in one to see if it’s FJ or Explorer.

If they offered a v8 with the 7 speed manual I would pick one up. Got the blessing from the wife even. Guess I’ll wait.

I don't hate it.

To bad its going to be the next "big thing" and every soccer mom and city slicker is going to be driving one with bling wheels and mud tires down city streets. Just like the JKU/JLU fad currently.

I predict the used market will be flooded with JK's and JL's when those are released. Gotta keep up with the Jones' ya know...

And that's what keeps car companies in business so they can build cars like this Bronco.

I think they're great, all 3 of them. Yes, the Sport as well. Options are good, competition is good. I don't know what you guys (and a ton of other people's) obsession is with being bummed out about the lack of a V8. Yes, I have a 5.0 Mustang, but no, I couldn't care less if it's not available in a Bronco. The IFS thing? Not seeing the big deal here either. How many people are going to hardcore rock crawl these things, 1...2%? 1-2% of the 1-2% that can afford to just buy a brand new vehicle and thrash on it in the rocks.

These things look great to me. I almost think the 35's look borderline cartoonish and would like to see one on 33's for comparison. Man, I'm getting old, I never would have said that 20 years ago

I'm not rushing out to buy one but I'll be checking out a 2dr with the 7spd at some point. Doubt I'll be able to justify the price of the build I want.

30k for the base, on par with the wangler. Good to see depending on the package, you can activate the lockers outside of 4lo.

Looks like fun - I always wanted something topless cause it reminds me of tits but so does towing boats and bummed to see 3500 only. How does the gladiator swing over 7500? Can't justify either but kind of a let down there

I am OK with it, well not the sport but the others yea. I might think about the 2dr when one shows up here that I can actually touch till then not too worried.

Interesting though how the Jeep community is looking at this, I figured they would wave the flag and try to pick it apart. I've seen quiet the opposite reaction from them though.

I think the sasquatch package is cool, and its great it can be added to a base model. Watching the video the suspension looks dialed although not much travel. The manual is cool, I'm ok not getting a v8 and the front ifs looks ok. But if I had to be picky the rear is bubbly and ugly and whats up with the handles on the hood that really kill the original Bronco-esque lines?
