What's new

Ford Bronco Release date set

To be fair, the driver's seat appears to be lowered all the way (or at least substantially) compared to the passenger seat, so he might have just jumped in for a picture after a giant was driving it

I am just shy of 6'5", and a lot of short people can't even jump in a vehicle to move it across a parking lot without fucking with all the seat and steering wheel adjustments after I have been driving.

I think you're right. I'm not a new vehicle person, and never thought about height adjustment. I still think power windows are a sign of wealth and prosperity.

For whatever reason, he's got the driver's seat all the way down.

That picture makes the sides seem to high. If they ended where the black paint end on the door frame it would look better IMO.
I don't think they are... look closer and imagine the driver seat 6" higher. If dudes seat was even with the passenger side it would all make sense.

Doors removed on an early Bronco don't look any better... although ill say this thing looks 98% Scout II in this pic.

this is what I see...

Cant figure out how to get the damn pre order thing to work. 100" wheelbase on 35s with lockers front and rear sounds like the perfect family wheeling rig that can mall crawl during the week and still drive nice.

trying to decide if doors removed on this looks any better than doors removed on a 2002 civic.....

I agree. For something that was designed to have removable doors, it sure looks like someone pulled the doors off something that wasn't designed to have removable doors. The Jeep door sill looks way cleaner with the doors off.

Doors removed on an early Bronco don't look any better... although ill say this thing looks 98% Scout II in this pic.

That is not entirely accurate since the doors on the original Bronco weren't intended to be easily removable. The roadster models that were sold without doors came with inserts that gave the door frame a finished appearance.

I totally agree with the Scout comment though. The new Bronco looks more like a swollen Suzuki Jimny, or a modern take on a Scout to me than an original Bronco.

Their marketing dept sucks.
Beards, Flannel and flat bills they nailed it :homer::flipoff2:

The short Kip Moore documentary or this..?

This 10 mins reiterates what I've been saying for quite some time now. The new Bronco was never intended to be a rock bouncer. Their focus for ride has been on the larger buying crowd first and trickle down from there what can logically be added without sacrificing the no. 1 target. Street drive-ability and comfort, some all terrain "crawling" capability, something that can be driven on the dunes/in sand and finally a little more off road ability squeezed in there. Kyles, Karens, hipsters, 28-36 +/- y/o single mothers, nostalgic old men, others not included in those groups and Irates alike will buy it for varying reasons.
The Wrangler was it's number 1 competitor for the simple fact that it is one of the most capable and notorious off the shelf, off road and road legal vehicles out there with the biggest share of both markets that fit that bill. However, this wasn't necessarily designed to be a Wrangler killer in the off-road world*. It does, however, have a very capable suspension. As noted, the front does not stray too far from current Ranger but does have a few upgrades and a sway bar disconnect similar but different to that of the Jeeps, not sure how I feel about the auto reconnect though. The rear is a 5 link with some impressive flexibility. Ground clearance and angles are good out of the box, more than most will ever need or know they have. Being able to ford through 2 1/2 feet of water is a neat marketing bullet point. There is a deceivingly good amount of travel at both ends coupled with good shocks.
Upfront, a SAS isn't out of the question but will require good fab skills and a little more knowledge until someone is brave enough to develop a cut and weld in kit (not the easiest thing to do).

*meaning the world most on here talk about and some that still participate.

The Sport isn't up my ally, but I like the styling of the Bronco, in and out and I think they did a pretty dang good job on it.

The "Raptor" version will take everything a little further.

Autofab has been making cut and turned beams since the 1980s. :flipoff2:

You are never going to get a consumer A-arm IFS kit that doesn't suck because of the packaging limitations imposed by keeping OEM drivetrain geometry, cross-members and whatnot. In order to get decent travel numbers while retaining favorable alignment changes and sane joint operating angles throughout the travel you need to use longer arms. In order to use longer arms you need to move the pivot points in. In order to move the pivot points in you need damn near every component to be packaged differently. Unless your "kit" replaces almost the entire front of the vehicle you are turd polishing at best.

Move the wheels out instead of the pivot points in, lots of off the shelf long travel kits out there, they almost all increase the track width to gain travel.

Wow, that's a chunky car. or seems like it.

80" wide, same as a Superduty. Granted this thing has a few inches of rubber on each side where a Superduty is right to the sheetmetal.

If you were hoping Ford was gonna do a full-size Bronco, you kinda got one.

I'm curious what Ford's goals are...

Mustang is becoming a brand...
Bronco, according to one article, is going to become a brand...

After collapsing brands in 08-09, seems like expanding brands is back in vogue?

The more pictures I see the more I want one. I've been holding on to the thinnest string of hope that Toyota gets in the game like Ford and Jeep, but I dont think it will ever happen. That last FJ was worst than expected.

Too bad I dont have $600/week from the .gov to help pay for it, lol.

I was tempted to head off this comment in my original but I figured fuck it.

When you're already full-size width there's not much wider you can go without getting inconvenient.

I like it. Will look at one when it’s time to replace my wife’s 4 runner in a few years. Also, it could have been way worse and came out looking like the new blazer. Maybe ram will redo the ram charger next.

I’m sure there will be plenty of these in my area. Right now it’s raptors and Jeeps that never see dirt.

Well, shortly there after FCA made Ram it's own brand.

I wouldnt be surprised if they break F-series into their own entity as well.

No biggie. 5-6 weeks from now, the aftermarket will have affordable door inserts. Its not a deal breaker.

I like it and it has some good options. It’ll be the closest thing to a brand new Scout that will likely be offered again. Mrs. Treehorn is surprisingly supportive of the idea. :smokin:

If that pic is correct, and that guy is 5'10", then nobodys wife is ever going to be able to drive the thing. 5'3" and you're staring at the center of the steering wheel.

Dunno whats going on with the pic, but bullshit is afoot.

Yeah, that kinda screws me putting the 4'11" wife in one:lmao:

Which is weird, wouldn't you want people to relate the vehicles across the brand?

Something like "this Ford mustang is really nice, I'm going truck shopping soon, I'll have to look at ford's"

Go back and re-look. The driver's seat is on the floor compared to the passenger. I'm guessing they let Shaq ride around in this mother fucker all day, then all of the sudden 5'10" Mr Clean jumps in and moves the seat forward for a photo op.

You married a midget ? :flipoff2:

Once osteoporosis sets in yes, the cut off is 4'10 I believe.

I was going to respond to a previous poster about people moving the seats after hes driven just to be able to reach the pedals. I cannot even get in my wifes car without moving the seat back first.

Sorry to interrupt your FB ignorance but that was the Ford Foundation, a completely separate entity from Ford Motor Company. By all means continue your ignorance based "boycott" though!

Henry Ford #3 was added to the board of trustees for the Ford Foundation in 2019. I wont give my money to a family that funds radical left ideas.
so....
Fuck off newb!

To be fair with the adjustable pedals and power seats in my F-150 she manages just fine. She does better on long drives with a lumbar pillow.

and as far as tires go, I just put cooper discovery maxes on my truck that measure 34.9" with no rubbing and no lift.

OK, then who do you spend your money with?

If you say one of the other US companies that took a government bailout, go punch yourself in the dick! :flipoff2:
