What's new

Ford Bronco Release date set

10 speed, man that thing is going to be shifting every 3 seconds.

I have a '19 Colorado with an 8 speed, I thought the same at first, but it's seamless. The only thing I don't like about it is when going down grades, it downshifts itself a couple gears to engine brake and then screams at higher rpm's the whole way down the hill. Not once have I thought that's a nice feature.

My wife and one of my daughters both have a mercedes suv. They’re 8 speed and doesn’t down shift for fuck I end up paddle shifting down and then the dash starts blinking that I need to upshift. Regular driving and I’m OK with it, but traffic or in a hilly city and I’m having to try to out-think the fucking transmission too much

RAM with an 8 speed also. I like it.

On downhill grades if I double tap the brake it'll downshift a gear. I quite like the feature.

Anyone recognize this spot on the Rubicon? Is it an optional obstacle or part of the main trail? This is a Badlands Sasquatch model. Seems like the factory 35" tires don't quite clear from the factory :shaking:

It's been a couple years but I think that video is as you're leaving the main Buck Island campsites after the dam.
Here maybe?

I wonder how much better he'd have done if his tires weren't inflated to 40 psi :stirthepot:

They were running the wheels as beadlocks. Hard to say how much pressure they were running, but the tires look aired down to me

Looks like buck island

It's funny, looks nothing like the "jeep" runs. With 200 people surrounding each rig and stacking a cobblestone ramp at every obstacles.

IFS, 35 mall terrains at what appears to be 25psi, and a "not one of us" driver.

I'll wait before I pass judgement.

That's also a pretty large vehicle for 35s.

I gotta hand it to them for taking them out and using them. Plus like I said, without 300 people helicopter parenting every rock.

I'm not the best driver by any means, but I'm fairly confident I could've gotten it in two tries, especially aired down to 7-10psi and giving it the business!!

Was behind one in traffic today, definitely full-size truck width. I think I'd still go Wrangler for bouncing around trails, but I see a big dent in jeep sales.

Why's that? (honest question, never been)

I think if they would've given it some gas, the thing would've made it

Not just that trail, but running that low on a 5k+ lb rig with normal Radial mt's isn't going to work well. You basically pinch flat the sidewall like a bicycle tube. Heavy mt's like toyo and nitto may be ok, but personally would be around 12-15 on that large of a rig.

Makes sense. I wasn't thinking of the rig weight. :homer: I thought you meant the trail specifically.

big, fat, mofo, for sure.

That's a smidge more rusty than I'd expect on such a new vehicle, on the left (not the exhaust obv)...hopefully that is a test mule that's been out for a couple winters, not a fresh pre-prod model from this year.

Even average trail rigs need to run like 12 lbs with typical radials

Fair enough. Does having thicker sidewalls (load range E or better) help with that? Obviously, if you've got the cash for some stickies, it doesn't matter as much

I don't think that's rust, but I'm not sure. It looks like red dirt to me. :homer:

Absolutely, that's why I mentioned the toyo and nittos. But then you're kinda in the same boat, since you have to run lower pressure to get the same traction.

Looks like a JK/JL driveshat, AKA one of the first things you have to change on a jeep.

That looks like the under side of a JKU from the transfer case back. If it wasn't for the ifs arms out front it would almost be hard to tell the difference.

4 linking the rear on one of those will be just like a JK. Step 1, relocate the gas tank.....

I need to see one in person, and what packages will come with what options before I make a final decision, but so far i like them. :smokin:

Toyota guys have been battling that shit gas tank location forever, sucks that jeep went away from the rear tank.

Mebbe I just been lucky, but airing down to to about 12-17 psi on a normal truck without headlocks never caused any me any issues. I've only had headlocks on a Yota extra cab on a regular cab frame with TSLs and then Pitbull Rockers. They did great in the 3-7psi range up here in wet California. :flipoff2:
