Ford Bronco Release date set

Has anyone seen any pricing on packages? I'm seriously thinking about going ahead and reserving one. Daughter will need a car in Feb when she starts driving and I think I'll pass on my Rubi to her and try out the Bronco. I assume that if you are getting in on the first runs you are paying full retail....? Never done that for a car before.

Chances are you are going to pay well over retail for a first run. I wouldn't be surprised to see them 10k over.
 
I placed a reserve on a 2 door base model. I am leaning on the 4cyl 7 speed. I figure with all of the mustang ecoboost mods out already its not going to be hard to get it to move so to speak. And I don't care about leather and infotainment.

I am also getting to this thread very late. Wondering why you state the above? I have been seeing some Youtube vids of the Base model with the 'Squatch package and it seems pretty capable.

You'll be paying MSRP and then some for the first ~6 months.

Squatch is only lockers, lift, tires, and gears if not already equipped. Badlands already has lockers, lower tcase ratio, 4.7 gears, and sway bar disco. Adding squatch to it is just adding a ~1" lift and 285->315 tires.

It's all going to come down to how much each trim and the additional cost of squatch is to determine the best value.

* also, squatch is not offered in manual trans, it's an auto only upgrade. Badlands has lockers standard and comes with 7spd. Hence, IMHO, the only one worth buying. I dont care for the v6 and auto.

That is the way I was seeing things too. So my question is will the Squatch package be less on the Badlands since so much of it is std? I wonder if they even have all of this worked out.
 
If it’s like raptors, or when the diesel F150s hit the lot here, there will be a 10-20K premium tacked on.

There are plenty of dealers out there doing invoice, or 1k under invoice. Same as when the JL came out. Plenty of dealers were tacking more on top of MSRP, but the guys that just wanted volume were undercutting and probably selling 50 for every 1 the overcharging dealers were.

Local dealerships were selling plenty at their markup. Of course, they’re also willing to finance them for a house loan term.
 
I'll take a good hydraulic actuator over an electrical one for long-term durability. The electric disco. in my JK has held up for 10 years, but 10s of 1000s of others have failed & been shitcanned in that time. I run a MM 9k hydraulic winch, so I'm curious what PSI & GPM happen to be laying around in that area of the vehicle :grinpimp:

Discos on IFS works wonders, but on vehicles not designed for it, it tends to be hard on ball joints (looking at you Tacoma). If the Bronco is designed for it with the travel limit not being the ball joint, it will make a huge improvement.

But again this is about wheeling stock-ish vehicles. I think the first mod for any vehicle with a swaybar is a swaybar disconnect. It's $20 in hardware and 45 minutes.

The Bronco only has 8-9" of wheel travel in the front depending on trim, so I doubt it is really pushing the limits of standard ball joints...

So what's the limit on travel, the strut or cv shaft/joint?

Even if the ball-joint is not limited out, ragging on the wheel while near the extreme of travel definitely does a number on ball joints, even if it's tearing up the boot and letting shit get in there or squirting out grease. By 'ragging' I mean normal 4x4 stuff.

So yeah, 'standard' ball joints that were specced out or not designed to be traveled are definitely fucked up by taking off the sway bar. You get a finite number of articulations out of them.

I would guess from an engineering perspective that Ford would design the suspension to be limited by something other than binding up rubber boots or the strut.

The amount of travel is not really relevant to the problem. Yeah, maybe 8-9" puts the control arm geometry into position to pinch the boot or squirt grease out, but that's dependent on a number of factors, mainly control arm length. Bronco's look pretty short to me, nothing like Raptor.

If he spent the money to pay someone to do the foundation, or dig the hole for the shitter tank for him, then he wouldn’t be able to afford a new bronco. Or much of the other random, entertaining shit he drags home:flipoff2:

Pretty much exactly this. When I finish my siding and paint I'll have a total of real close to $135,000 into building my house. I'm pretty confident I couldn't have paid to have it done all legit for under 300k

There still seems to be a little confusion on exactly what package has what but what I basically put down on the pre order was the 4dr badlands. What I'm hoping I get after I actually sit down for the real order is 2.3l, 7spd, selectable tcase with 3.0 low range, 4.70 gears with lockers front and rear, sway bar disconnect, and upgrade tire size to 35s. Should come in around $44k

That honestly doesn't seem too bad of a price, given the cost of new vehicles these days. I think that's still a little cheaper than a comparable jeep.

And I've been really close to ordering a new jt and throwing all the cool guy parts at it... but then I would be a jeep guy. I think one of these will make a perfect family vehicle/ mild wheeler/ camping rig. I'm a little disappointed in the 3500lb tow rating but I think I'm going to completely disregard that and make my own decisions on what it can tow.

For something that small, 3500 lbs seems about right. That's a "couple jetski on a trailer range", so it fits. You're not gonna be hauling 26 round bales for the farm with this thing.

yes they probably did Holy Cross. There are only a couple difficult sections But there are/were bypasses, the creek and then above the city at Cleveland rock. Disclaimer it has been a few years since that last time we camped up there.

Agreed. It'll do 2 sxs's on a big utility trailer. It'll do a little 18ft ultralight camper. That's plenty.

If you need to tow something real, just use the truck.

All I think is if I spend 50k on a new car, I'm going to have to daily drive it and sit in traffic with it. I hate sitting in traffic with a manual.
I'm never owned any thing more than a 4 speed automatic, so a 10 speed seems really nice.

Ok. I was thinking more of wheelbase instead of power.

I don't like towing heavier loads with a short little gocart. Too much chance of the tail wagging the dog

Traffic is way more relaxing in a low gear not touching any pedals, then doing throttle-brake-throttle-brake-throttle-brake-repeat like everybody else in front of you. This applies to any transmission type.
