What did you do for your ford today?

what did you use to make your LED amber??

Admitted I'm old enough to run a tonneau cover.

A while back I snagged 2 mis bent JL adventure series bumpers that were headed to the scrap bin. Cut them both in half and stretched em to fit my 79. Also used a scrap bin winch tray with recovery points.

Just waiting on some jl fog lights and a new winch to finish the last few details.

Spent almost all of Saturday working on the truck with my son. We worked hard to finish homework Friday night to free up the weekend, it was nice to see him turning wrenches and getting dirty instead of stuck on his laptop.

I got tired of pushing the truck back in to the garage, it's just enough of a slope to kick my ass after wrenching so I set a couple anchors and made a pull point. Did a second one on the other half of the garage just because.

I have a donor cab (from an '88) and was on the fence about which cab to go with, they both need some repairs. The '88 was a Florida truck from new, it has perfect floors and doors, but the roof has a couple spots around the windshield that need repaired and a couple spots that the rain gutter leaked through to the cab. '97 has a really good roof, an ok firewall, but not much else. So ultimately they'll both be combined to get what I need. Successfully pulled the back window, but broke windshield pulling it, cut the roof off to save and I need some of the firewall brackets. There was only about 2" of sheet metal connecting the back wall and the floor and the A pillar was easy enough to get at.

Finished up pulling the firewall and floor, my son was pulling the shifter cable out for me. The floor went to the ever growing scrap pile and the firewall will be saved until I have everything needed to mount the dash, bulkhead connectors for wiring, steering column, pedal assembly installed in the '88 cab.

Down to the roller and a better shot as the non existent cab mount cross member.

Back into the garage for later, pull point worked out just as planned and now I can really get into the frame repairs needed.

Correct me if I'm wrong;
A battery can still be weak even if it reads 12.5v.

I'm still getting labored starts with lower temps.
After installing the starter there were days where the temps were in the mid to upper 40s: starts were good/healthy-enough.
Since then temps dropped back down to 20s: very labored/weak starts.

Is it a serviceable battery or maintenance free? Yes it could have 12v but not be able to handle a load.

We get between 4 & 5 years out of batteries around here. Dose charging it change anything?
Lately I've been putting the charger on in the late afternoon and leaving it overnight.
And then starting with the charger still connected.

All that and still a very weak/labored starting.

I would make sure that the battery terminals are clean, if that doesn't fix it I'd probably change the battery.

Pulled the battery last night (1800HRS) / let it sit in the living (not on charger) to warm to 71*.
Outside temp.: 34*
Battery was on charger
Battery temp.: 61.5*
Voltage: 12.4v

This morning (0800HRS)
Battery temp.: 66.7*
Voltage: 10.7v

Connected charger
Voltage: 13.4v~
Battery temp.: 67.5*

After Bebop asked a question regarding possible parasitic electrical draw from the Bronco battery; I pondered the possibilities.

I came to the conclusion:
An ashtray left open/out for over 2 years and forgetting it had a little light.:homer:
I didn't notice it because I never drive at night.
