What's new

What did you do for your ford today?

Took a step towards the geriatric ward.

Put on a grandpa cap and some big-ish mud flaps on the front. Have to find some matching flaps for the rear.

Put the exhaust back together. Engine moved a lot with the new mounts.

If you make fun of my welding I'll... I don't know. I'm booger blasting with a flux core 140 Lincoln.

This morning I replaced a fuel pump. I'm developing reps in this practice, but it's what you end up doing when you collect late 90s F-150s. For whatever reason the stock tanks used a half inch vent line in 99, but in 97s they used a 3/4" line. At least the replacement tanks and fuel neck fillers some with them. Ever try to wrestle a 5/8" fuel rated hose onto a 3/4" nipple? It is doable, but you will probably cuss.

My Bronco is 29y.o. this month, with it's original fuel pump.

I'm dreading when I have to replace it; mostly because OEM parts sucks these days.

Went and use my buddies lift and mig welder to fix the exhaust on the 05 daily, I lost a hanger and it wound up snapping the inlet nipple off the magnaflow muffler, so that was a treat pulling it all back into place and glueing it all together. Got home, unloaded my tools out of the truck, decided to pull the 94 IDI into the garage to inspect a leak, which looks to be injectors leaking, and it running down the bellhousing. Upon a little inspection underneath I found a big fawkin crack in the frame at the front hanger for the rear spring, right where the tank strap mounts. So I got the bed pulled and truck back in to inspect, I'll pressure wash it tomorrow and get making patches. I really need to buy a 220v mig but my buddy will let me borrow his thankfully.

Take pics, would be cool to see the crack and repair.

Replaced brass washers and bled the passenger side front brake line banjo bolt hoping to stop a slow leak.
I only managed to slow the slow leak.😠:shaking:🙁

I already tightened said banjo bolt; I may tighten it a little more when I bleed the 3 other corners tomorrow.

Copper crush washers. If you put brass ones in that may be why they won't seal. But I suspect you don't have brass at all unless you bought them from a hardware store or something.

You can also get thicker ones which will sometimes conform better. Overtightening sometimes makes it worse though

Ah; copper!:laughing::homer:

I bought very specific washers for the brake job from Autozone.✔️
Driver side is fine.:confused::shaking:

Maybe replace the banjo bolt?:confused:🤷‍♂️

The older I get the sissier I become. Sick of the heat just pouring in through all the holes in the trans tunnel so added some shifter boots.

Next thing you know I'll be driving an auto:eek:

When I bought my '94 Bronco in '04, I pondered long/methodically/realistically on whether I wanted another stick or the convenience of an auto.
Auto won out.

Fast forward to today; even with multiple spine surgeries, and even being almost 20 years older, I'm thinking I might want another stick.
Specifically an NV4500 with the 6.34 1st gear.:smokin:

Part of my reasoning is having the 100:1 to 150:1 final drive ratio.:grinpimp:

All those sticks in the picture end up at about 220:1. 4:88 x 6.69 x 2.46 x 2.72.

Spend the $ for a GOOD pump whenever you replace them. This one was maybe 5 years old and didn't have much use.

Got the frame prepped and cleaned up, waffling between using the 1/4" plate I have on hand for the patches, or picking up some 3/16 plate. I got this truck and another to do so I'll use the material either way. I got pictures today but apparently they're too big :homer:

Make sure your patch is made out of material at least as pitted as the frame so that when Jimmy Numbers sees it when doing the state inspection he thinks it's an old repair that's been passing for years and not his problem.

Inspection? Sheiiiiit, we don't need no inspection :flipoff2:

And today's small progress after work. Dug out my 1/4" plate and went to work with the cut off wheel.

Grooved it where I wanted the bend

Remember, safety 3rd

Clamped it to the rear bumper, couple large adjustables, got the angle I need

Mocked up, hanger obviously needs to come down. I need to roll the lower lip to match the frame contour, which I haven't figured out how I want to do that yet.

I took the 15 minutes to install the factory tow hooks on my 2wd expedition after the wife got it stuck in mud last month. Getting under the valance to hook up the tow strap in the mud was not my favorite, but hopefully I never have to use the tow hooks. Vehicle didn't come with the tow hooks.
