What's new

What did you do for your ford today?

Maybe I did already..........:flipoff2:

I returned the ChiCom timing cover.

Think I'm going to buy this map-gas torch set up:

Get rid of those jam nuts and replace them with some grade-8 ones.

Tighten them and line them them up so one socket fits over both.

Then apply lots of blow torch, we're talking a good 15min, where I circled in red.

Then un-screw the jam nuts using an impact

nOOB question:
Would I need more than one or two map-gas canisters in order to heat that area?

Just one will be enough for this job.

Twilight Zone:
AutoZone had Bernzomatic map gas canisters for $15.99 vs Am.azon $18.75+.

So I bought one there, and ordered the TS8000 torch on said Am.azon.

Bernzomatic describes the TS8000 as their hottest burning torch.🤷‍♂️

Pulled the third-member and axles from the 67 Bronco. The driver's shaft is rusty and pitted just past the splines, the axle seals are both tore up, one of the bearings has some good friction in it, and the housing was full of Hershey Chocolate syrup gear oil. This isn't a surprise because when I replaced the pinion seal in the third-member I found that the ring and pinion were rusty and pitted.

Gonna order shafts from TomsOffroad.com with the bearings already installed (I don't have a press) so I can just pop them in when I get back from my trip this weekend. Have a brand new third-member with a posi from Speedway Motors (this thing is just a cruiser for my GF).

Used this opportunity to install the new e-brake cables I got for it a long time ago but was too lazy to install.

Will feel a lot more comfortable with her driving this thing on her own once I'm done going through the rear axle. It's the only thing left I haven't touched/rebuilt.

I have this one too, is there something better however? It's always been fine, then I seen some guys with dual nozzles of fire, that seems extra cool
