Threads won't hold.
I need a weld bead!!1!
Changed a wheel seal-trying rtv on spindle surface this time
Discovered wheel cyl leaking on other side
Got pissed off and Rolled truck into pond
Get rid of those jam nuts and replace them with some grade-8 ones.
Tighten them and line them them up so one socket fits over both.
Then apply lots of blow torch, we're talking a good 15min, where I circled in red.
Then un-screw the jam nuts using an impact
Yes. A propane torch is fine too. You gotta give it time to get the whole area up to 400+deg.Is a map-gas torch hot enough to do the job?

Yes. The bolt in the block is grade 8 or equivalent. You're leaving strength on the table by trying to use grade 5 jam nuts to get it out. When you suggested grade 8 bolts, is it because the threads are stronger? 🤷♂️
Don't really care about the screen. I was after Bluetooth radio that could handle a subwoofer and this double din unit was on clearance and cheaper than a single din.40's look good
Never understood folks wanting a screen in their dash though
Did you measure the slack before you took the old one off? 1/4” is fine IMO. Too tight will cause problems way more readily than too loose.I loose-installed the timing chain (not bolted down).
There's a total of about .25" of play!😳
I W.A.G.'ed a total of about .75" of slack on the old one.Did you measure the slack before you took the old one off? 1/4” is fine IMO. Too tight will cause problems way more readily than too loose.
the fuck is that
And you own/run a business in the automotive industry?
Induction heater. They're badass for certain things. I don't think this counts though, unless he just wants it for other stuff later.Always used a welder or torch. Have never even seen one of those things
What those are really good at is heating stuck nuts off of studs because it's expanding the nut itself off of the threads it's stuck to. In this case, it's not really applying the heat where it would be most effective. You need to do what Arse said and dump all the heat on the boss in the block, not the bolt shank. The reason mine was glowing in my video was because I had just finished welding the nut to it.Thinking about trying this on the broken bolt:
