Not at allA fingernail-size of old gasket fell into the oil pan.
HOW CONCERNED SHOULD I BE?😬
Broken bolt:
pipe wrench? they usually grip broken bolts pretty dang good
and then pipe wrenchGuaranteed it will snap again, it needs penetrating oil and heat
Will a propane torch be enough?Guaranteed it will snap again, it needs penetrating oil and heat
Will a propane torch be enough?
BernzOmatic map gas, it will be!I’d use map gas, propane would be better than nothing tho, worth a try. I’d coat the new bolts in anti seize for the future
I tried using a propane torch on a bottle of MAPP and it didn’t work. I’m a dummy and don’t know why, but I’m telling you so that you don’t try to save a buck and just buy a MAPP refill bottle.
My torch head was an old one I found in my dad’s tools, probably from the 80’s. It simply would not flow or flow enough to light if I remember right. It DID work with a bottle of propane however. Pressure difference, orifice size, dunno. It has been working for me for 15 years. Cheapo propane torch from autozone. I've always been concerned something will happen using the MAPP instead of propane because of the higher heat, but no boom yet.
Don't cut it off, just install and reuse itThe blue gasket on the oil pan is part of the complete metal oil pan gasket:
nOOB question:
What do I do with it?😬
Broken bolt:
Same exact goddamn bolt I had to fish out of my 351 this weekend. Mine was almost broken flush because it was also seized in the timing cover, so I had to break it off by levering the timing cover. Happy I got it out.Broken bolt
Apparently my bolt broke in three pieces:Same exact goddamn bolt I had to fish out of my 351 this weekend. Mine was almost broken flush because it was also seized in the timing cover, so I had to break it off by levering the timing cover. Happy I got it out.
