What's new

What did you do for your ford today?

What injectors, home
Brew?

What vc gasket you buy?
Stock, I rebuilt them. It's just a dumping flatbed, hauls 5-6 tons at most. Had plenty of power, even on like 6 ok injectors.
Mostly was tired of it smoking out the whole yard with eye burning fumes.

Whatever Schucks had on hand. Doorman or Wix, I forget.

Just arrived:

Notice the bolt hole on the right is not perfectly lined up.

Is that water opening too close to the edge even when I line up said bolt hole?

Reference:
That's the right side of '94 5.0 timing chain cover and water pump.

It looks like it's binding and keeping the mating surfaces seating completely. Is that the case?

What was wrong with original?
I always reused on small and big block fords
No problems even with some pitting just use rtv and gaskets

Do you have a 302 or a 351?

Regardless, you need to lay a water pump gasket for your truck over that timing cover and compare carefully. It should more or less completely match though there may be some dead spots that don't get gasketed but it won't matter because they're not areas water flows. There's several variations of 302 timing covers and you might be trying to use the wrong one. Despite knowing what I'm doing I've gotten the wrong pump or the wrong gasket more than once.

The hole where the front main seal goes is off-centered. That makes me question the quality of the part.
You're getting bent out of shape over nothing. It's a casting. As long as there's material where it needs to be it's fine.

The machining is probably gonna be good enough (we're talking a seal bore and bolt holes here, nothing crazy).

opened my hood

drove it around the neighborhood and did some figure eights today for another 10 minutes. Got followed home by the police and didn't get pulled over, that was nice. Cop's probably use to seeing it in my driveway at this point.

Thinking i'll pop the valve covers and check the rockers now that it's all had a chance to settle, then i'll pretty well be done with under the hood stuff. Lots of wiring to be dug into next.

Changed the upper control arms and lower ball joints on my daughters 2wd Ranger today. Couldn't get the last ball joint to seat against the flange. I had way too much pressure on the ball joint for comfort and it wasn't moving. I could almost hear my Dad say "Hit it with a hammer, dumbass". I tapped the control arm next to the ball joint and POP!, sucker seated. Thanks Pops. I miss that guy.
