What's new

What did you do for your ford today?

Since I won't be driving the Bronco this month, I stopped/suspended Bronco ins for March.
Saved $40:grinpimp:

I'll W.A.G. I won't be driving in at least the first part of April as well.
Because I want to spread out buying parts and tools over two months.

Finally found my outer tie rod, magically ended up in a box of toys in the garage

Happy to get a bunch of garage cleanup done as well today. Found my torch and my 3/16" plate as well.

I washed the Explorer including the engine compartment, and vacuumed the interior. Then, I cleaned the oil filter and MAF. Have five new General Grabber X3's waiting to get mounted. Need to get the Explorer smog checked next week. It always passes as it runs clean for being 30 years old.

You have a rebuildable oil filter?

I remember in the '90s rebuildable oil filters were a thing.
Very expensive, but also filtered waaay better.

You can "suspend" your insurance for just a month?

I'm about to remove the water pump; 4 years ago when it replaced 2 bolts broke/one at 3 O'clock and one at 9 O'clock positions.
I don't remember how the dude who did the replacement remedied said broken bolts (I have a feeling it the cause of the current leak).

What are the common solutions to this problem?

If you can get to any exposed amount of broken bolt, pipe wrench works real well

Otherwise drill bits and drill until it's gone, then drill for a helicoil

Or mess with an extactor

Brand new hitch, $50 at tractor supply 75% towing stuff sale

Can't get a used one for $50 and this beats making one. Light duty, might add a brace, probably won't. I don't tend to go too heavy on my trailer and the other hitch is also rated to 5500lbs and hasn't given me problems

Thinking I'll sacrifice a piece of tube for a bumper. Not entirely convinced which way to go with it

Removed the faulty rear blend door actuator from the expedition, ordered another one and an air filter for the truck from rock auto.

Maybe it's just my store or just in store, everything bulldog was 75% off and most things Reese as well.

Snagged up a solid hook and lunnette ring, both normally over $100 for under $30 for example

Others things I was looking for were not those brands, so maybe that is why.
I was looking for 10K straps, electric trailer jack, etc...

I got two tow hitch receivers off local FB market.place, each rated 10,000lbs/1,000 TW.

One I bought for $10, the other I bought for $30.:grinpimp:

i've tried for months to find any sort of those kind of deals  nothing even was coming up close enough to offer that low :shaking:
I live in the largest metropolis area in ID, yet 10 miles out in any direction is farm and ranch country.

One dude had four hitch receivers, for four different rigs, he was selling.
He was clearing out his barn/shop.

People in farming/ranching country love to hold on/collect stuff.:smokin:

Then there's the 1940s and '50s 1/4 ton drill press and 1.5ton lathe......
Sitting in the far corner with decades of cobwebs on them.:grinpimp:
