Vehicle prices that make you say WTF?

So I was looking at the new Toyota GT Corolla, someone at work bought one and it's a nice looking car. From Toyota's website I would get 10.6% APR for 60 months with excellent credit, if I have good or fair it jumps to 14.5 and 15.5%.

And they were feeding those things to the shredder for cash for clunkers:shaking: They are hot right now. Almost like they are attaining premature classic status.
Lots of boomers want a vehicle that reminds them of a time when their failure to save for retirement wasn't a looming problem on the horizon, their kids were too young to think critically of them, weighed 40lb less, they had yet to lose half their shit in divorce and the domestic and foreign policy failures of their generation had yet to come home to roost.

Lots of those boomers kids are 30-40yo and have real job money have nostalgic memories of being dragged around in the back seat of those or fucking their girlfriend in one somewhere between 1990 and 2000 or bolting a shitty lift onto one in the college parking lot in 2006 or whatever (you see a fair amount of this last type here on IBB).

That's a lot of people who are potential buyers for something that's in relatively short supply. And because they were cheap and fairly reliable XJs stuck around long enough to really get hacked up and/or run into the ground so supply of them is probably pretty short for how prolific they once were (you could say the same about a lot of the import crossover shit from that same era).

Yes this applies to every SUV of the era but Montero and Explorers and Pathfinders and S15s and shit don't have the cult following and cool kid status amount non-wrenching or barely-wrenching population that some brands do so they don't get their prices jacked nearly as much.

:lmao:

That shit is hilarious. I'm not saying it's not valid, but it's hilarious.

Write one up for those of us that love early Broncos and Blazers, and then do one for the guys that can only afford shitbox Subarus.

You put way too much effort into ascribing motivation for vehicle choices. Just for fun, why do I have 2 XJs?

I did the same for a car and they came back with 9.9% :shaking:

Going to the dealer got me 4.9% for 60 months. The Credit union was offering 5.7% Not great but not doomsday like the online quotes.

How recently? 4.9% sounds like a buy down incentive rate.

It's all in the spin.

I can't work without inspiration. You'll have to wait for the next complain-fest to set me off. :flipoff2:

It's actually kind of hard to write that sort of shit about something you know in great detail because you see all the nuance and so it's hard to get the combination statements that are broad brush yet grounded in truth just right.

Kinda like how black comedians have the best takes on white people.

Because you made enough bathtub meth to have a surplus, and was able to trade the 3 bags of leftover for a 2nd XJ.

:flipoff2:
Wake up grandpa. The year is 2024, XJs are expensive and the meth dealers drive Nissan Rogues now. :flipoff2:

I had assumed he acquired the XJ's a while back, maybe 10yrs ago, back when a clean one was worth $1500 (or 3 bags of Snakerider)

I wouldn't assume anyone on this forum who'd actually want XJ's would have the kind of disposable income to buy one in clown world.

That is one hell of a manifesto. You mad bro ? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

You're just mad you can't pull that sort of literary perfection out of your ass with zero effort like I can. :flipoff2:

November at Mazda. Was able to use the manufacturers discount I get through work to get it a little under MSRP. About the best deal I could swing. It was the last 2023 they had.

5.7% was for a used vehicle through the Credit Union.

I bought one from Ashke last summer. It sat in a field in WV for years waiting for me to need a quick Gambler 500 ride.

The nice one was a 2wd from Atlanta that got a 4wd conversion and a mild build about 7 years ago.

I remember acquiring 3 XJs for free in the summer of 2003 because friends couldn't even sell them. I should have saved them instead of bashing them off trees until they exploded offroad and cutting them up with a concrete saw and sending them to the scrap yard in pieces... oh well

WTF? 2024 Tacoma TRD-Off Road Premium without the hybrid is $70k CAD out the door price up here.
