What's new

The TRACTOR thread

If your still needing help with this is it may be the same on my L3901. PM and I can get pics of whatever you need.

I was able to use the lighting circuit for my canopy since I needed to rewire the circuit.

Dealership tech work I replaced everything with sealed automotive connectors in a Y-split config to allow for a connection for the 3rd function.

Hydraulic Auger with 12in auger, 3/8" SSQA plate with 3/8 chain hooks to allow for lifting of pipe into holes.

I really hate the smell and sound a grinder makes so.....out comes the horizontal saw. Not sure why pipe appears so angled but it was cutting straight on the saw. Driveway is really wonky at parts. I need to buy a plasma or torch again.

What is so special about Kubota Super UDT2 hydro fluid? What makes it different than any other hydro fluid? I have gallons of generic hydraulic fluid for log splitters and other implements that I'd like to use in my Kubota instead of the super expensive Super UDT2 at $60/gallon, but don't want to fuck up my tractor either. I also don't want to "just put it in the tractor and find out" the hard way. I will just suck it up and buy S-UDT2 if I have to.
It's slipperier IIRC, some Goldilocks mixture.
The minimum I would use would be SUDT.
Do not use "303" fluid or "Universal" fluid that doesn't meet at least SUDT specs
I was under the impression the software is not available to anyone but dealers.

And if the equipment is under warranty, there is no way to repair it without the software and trying to do it yourself or use anyone else, warranty is voided.
As has been said:
1. The software for end users is limited and some stuff is foolish (have to have the software to replace a temp sensor)
2. Access has been improving in the last 3-5 years
prolly a resistor in the sensor or some such shit
stick a multimeter onto the sensor and see what kinda sneeze it has going on in there
ETA: might be a pressure sensor reading clutch application pressure, dunno, so look at it
Probably a on/off switch, either a pressure switch, or it gets moved by something in the housing.
No resistor needed.

Tpost driver? i used a piece of tubing that fit over the Tpost, welded a pivot point so that it always stayed upright...attached to side of bucket. push Tpost in easily.

pound in 2 3/8ths tubing? just bought one because it requires a large heavy tractor to work. i no longer have a large tractor, so I drill either 6" or 9" holes to pour concrete around the tubing..

+i finally found a FEL for my little JD that A) would fit and B) I could afford...Ill be driving down to Grandview, TX Sat to pick it up.
its a JD model 43A in pretty good shape with most of the hoses fairly new. Once I get it home, figure out how to install it, I hope to move some gravel to fix my driveway, which is still suffering from the last 4.5" rain we got a few months ago. the box blade that I have drags pretty good, but its hard to angle to make the gravel go where I want it to go,but alas...
i wasnt ready to move onto a farm, I wasnt ready to retire and start a new life in the country, I wasnt ready for any of this, so I doing the best I can.

I bought a JD 2040 with shredder, box blade, and hole drill(6" and 9" augers) for a good price, but no FEL...been on the look ever since.
i have onsite gravel supply, just need a way to move it from where it is to where I need it.

Grading with the box scraper is > than a fel.

I get having the loader to transport.

Learn the ways of a box scraper/box blade/gannon/etc.

You are mistaken friend.

Only farmers and homeowners "grade" with a bucket.

Been a dirt mover for a year or two.:lmao:

Learn to use the tool.
I can use a bucket without issue. I’m not running pallet forks off a 3 point. I’m not carrying dirt any distance with a 3 point (this can be debated). I’m not picking up anything to any height with a 3 point. I have to turn around to see anything off a 3 point to work it. I literally can do a million more things off a bucket than a 3 point and that is exactly why they made skid steers that have no 3 point attachment and have plenty of attachments that make up for the lack of a 3 point hitch.

Yes, for one single task, sure. But for the majority of tasks, a FEL is more versatile and handy.

Linear actuator already died that I used on the SSQA levers. Pops a fuse right away when I try to use it. I grew to love the system.

Debating on just buying a cheap double acting hydraulic cylinder now that I have a 3rd function up front. Right now the auger is the only system that uses the 3rd function so 95% of the time it can be used for the SSQA levers.

well, we drove 3.5 hours to a little town south of Alvarado only to be told that he sold the FEL to someone who promised to pay full asking price earlier that morning...so much for FB Marketplace, wish he would have said something when we were asking final directions that AM .

odd part is, it was listed for over a month and had just lowered the price that morning and we offered 100 less than his new price...

people are weird, but I did fix my shredder last night and ran it for a few hours , without issue, today.

Some progress on the 3165. Tossed the fuel injectors into the parts washer and let em soak

From there i began the process of disassembling and cleaning them:

Pulling the nozzle apart, you can see there was still grime and buildup inside them

All 4 injectors stripped down

You can see that the 4 individual injectors have worn into each other differently, so ive made a conscious effort not to mix and match parts between each injector

After full cleaning (and testing each nozzle to see if all 4 ports in each nozzle spray), i have begun the reassembly process:

...and all 4 are now done!

Weather permitting were heading back to this thing on Friday. Hopefully all goes well and it finally roars to life, well see soon enough!

I think my tractor is trying to kill my wife and I. Few months ago the wife tripped on the pallet fork attachment which resulted in a broken elbow and I bruised my thigh when I tried to kick a lever closed. My thigh rubbed hard against the top of the pallet fork attachment. Normally I dont bruise easy but it helped with the story of why I needed to upgrade the levers. :lmao:

Linear setup died in a few months time. But worked awesome when it worked.
Old setup.jpg

Steel on hand was 1/2in thick. Washers work well for spacing material off steel table before contour milling pieces out.
Brackets.jpg

Brackets being test fitted. The bruise came from the left top corner of the attachment.
Brackets test fit.jpg

Box of goodies from Surplus Center. I always buy extra parts since shipping is a killer if you need to change something up. The cylinder will be run off the 3rd function on the tractor since 99% of the time I wont have a use for it.
Goodies.jpg

I still have some minor things to adjust.
1. Flow restrictor to slow down cylinder moving. Its quick
2. Surplus center sent the wrong fitting for the cylinder so I had to make due.
3. Remove old electrical cable
4. Painting
Cylinder Engaged.jpg

I managed to swing the bucket off the tractor when I released the cylinder for a picture. :homer: The cylinder limits out before the brackets hit on the side.

PXL_20240719_173522567.jpg

Got the injectors reinstalled, along with the fuel tank. Pumped the primer until i had fuel flowing out the fuel pump bleeder, inlet & outlet. Cranked it over and......nothing. Injection pump isnt pumping fuel. Tired and tried, couldnt get the pump to work. Fucked around with it for a while before giving up and going home.

I’ve been getting tired of taking my 3 point mounted weight box on and off so a while back I found some wheel weights on FB market place that I can make work. I finally got around to getting them sand blasted so I can mount them. I’m going to have to make some spacers and get some hardware. These are old Massey Harris weights, so I’m sure that some where there is a group old old tractor nerds that would be pissed because I’m painting these Kubota orange.

Are you using a diverter or something or is your aux. fully dedicated to the quick attach?
