What's new

The Snowmobile Thread

Only the RMKs, the other ones are starting to show up. Got an email from Polaris saying shipped by 12/15.
Let's ride this season.

I'm going to put my girlfriend on the indy 500 this year. We'll see how she likes it. It may get traded for a 2 up

Doesn't that only work in one direction then? Since you can't let go of the throttle?

Watch the pros. They never actually grab onto it and they don't use left hand throttles.

I bought my sled with a left hander, and I took it off. Useless and gets in the way.

Mine is used to either give the kids something to grab onto, or just to roll the sled back over after a roll. 99% it's to roll the sled over at a standstill.

14 pro 163, skinz panels, slp clutching, skinz bumper, skinz float plate, headlight delete (drops about 6 lbs, put in a few 15w LED fogs that weigh next to nothing). Also world's cheapest tunnel box. 1" AL tube from the scrap bin, and a $22 box from hd. Couple carriage bolts and nuts, and 20 minutes later... no more crushed beverages!

The Indy was free, I just had to put it together. It needs a fuel pump and the helix is fucked in the secondary, so it runs like crazy to 45 and then just revs. 15 minutes later the fuel pump is hot and quits until it cools.

This is the only footage I got before my GoPro died. Cooke City was epic last winter. 12-18" of snow every day. Those sleds in the picture were clean 8 hours before and it kept snowing all weekend.

Sleds were cleared off at about 8pm the night before. We ended up seeing about 3.5-4 feet in about 36 hours. We were expecting 6 inches. Wife and I were a bit over our heads with this being like our 5th time out.

Got my mountain sled with skinz everything. Boondocker turbo. Carbon fiber stuff and other things.

Then the trail sled. Skidoo 900 4 stroke.

I’m picking up my older two sleds from getting serviced tomorrow. The new to me sled is in the trailer, registered, and ready to go already. Now we just need good snow.

I have two trips planned to northern Wisconsin already, one the last week in January and another in February. Hopefully I can squeeze one or two more trips in this year.

The January trip is just me and my 13 year old daughter. I’m going to ride the renegade and she’ll ride my arctic cat CF7. The February trip is with all 4 of my kids and my brother in law.

I'm sitting in the middle of Montana waiting for snow. Cooke has a few feet, and Seeley lake area is getting deep. Nothing more than 2' in my local area. Not enough to cover the rocks!

I'm starting to get pissed! :homer:

We’ve had a hard freeze and have about 4” of snow on the ground locally. Saturday we might get another 4+”. If we do I’m going to fire up the sleds and ride the roads that night before they plow.

Where in wi?

My buddy brought his sleds out today….
To Fkn fast for me!!!!

Got above freezing today…. Made it kinda messy!!!!

Lake Namakagon. Cable area. Staying at Lakewood’s for the January trip. Renting a VRBO house on the lake in February

Lakewoods brings back memories... spent a lot of time there in the 90's.

Well you might not see it until mid/late Feb because that is when the shipment for today is now scheduled to arrive.
Wouldn’t surprise me. The exact same sled I ordered was in shipping to NH, I’m hoping it’s on that truck.

Plenty of snow in and around Island Park, ID area. We just came back home earlier today, it was our New Years party destination (we did ‘21 there as well).

Tons of people out there on sleds tearing it up.

Dealer told me I should consider any snowchecks they have a cancel on. They're talking 20-30% price hike next year.

I'm choking on the price tag, but used axys are still bringing $10-15k, so a $16k for a 165 NA pro slash isn't looking as bad.

So don't be like all the idiots backing out now to snowcheck a 23. There'll have the same problem continuing anyways. They haven't delivered the last sleds until February the last 2 years anyways.

Mine are a 2007 RMK 600 with 4300 miles and a Gen 2 2001 RMK 600 guest sled.

Here are some photos from this Thursday in Washington.
White sled is a buddies 2008 RMK 700.

Assault 850. No mountains unfortunately, but lots of back country boondocking. Some trail riding, but prefer to be off trail. Lots of wilderness around here.

Pretty sure I'm gonna need one of these units. See if I can buy next spring or summer when guys want to trade em off for a dirtbike.

Do they make kid sized ones for tooldling around on snowed in roads? Still be 4-5' deep in the hills around here.

Yes, but they're stupid expensive.

It's actually cheaper to go buy a new Arctic cat blast 400 than anything. Then they get real suspension and a track that's capable of taking them off trail.

Get yourself an 800. They are all around better than a 600 on everything except fuel. There's lots of times you're not using all the throttle, but it's there if you're getting bogged down.

People with snowmobile money don't trade them for dirtbikes, because they already have new dirtbikes also. :flipoff2:

It's pretty much all over the mid-west to the west coast, you're going to pay $4-6k for a good usable one that's not too old. Expect $10k+ for something less than 5 years old. Add a few $ if it's been turbo'd.

On the upside, if you stick with a new pro or axys chassis Polaris you can get your money out in a few years. I paid $5k for a 14 pro 800 163 2 years ago and got offered $6k for it yesterday.
