What's new

The Snowmobile Thread

I’m hearing that some of the machines that you would be happier on are showing up as well:flipoff2:

I’ve switched to Polaris after being on cat, ski-doo, cat, mostly snow checks since 2001. You won’t go wrong with a new Poo crossover. I went with the 22 XCR 850 SB 136 1.6, I grips and really like this sled. Kept my 18 XCR 800 SB and still like riding that as well. Ive been on the fence about the Assault, lack of snow has made that decision confirmed.
my reason for maybe swapping machines is just 4 stroke weight to 2 stroke. easier to bomb ungroomed ditches and such. i dont know, probably keep what i have. i do have a 2 stroke doo for a spare sled and honestly never ride it unless its the first snow just to take it down the field and back to make sure it still works good. we dont get enough snow for a machine that can handle deeper untouched stuff to be needed.

Here’s the enduro when we picked it up a few weeks ago.

Is all Skidoo 4 stroke now? Been out of the loop for ages. Remember at one time they were the only ones still offering 2 stroke.

Dropped off my 4 Poos at the dealership for the recall yesterday.
Been working on building the new drag for our new northstar ranger, cutting/clearing trails on Sundays and getting material quotes for two new bridges, 40‘ and 60’ I beams. Small club and not a lot of volunteers.

I am thinking of selling the 4 stroke skidoo and getting a 2 stroke crossover Polaris but I dunno. Not hauling the kids in the pod anymore. My boys old enough to ride 2 up or in his own if I can find a decent 500. I’m hoping okoboji Iowa gets good snow this year to bomb around on.

Whats the deal with that pod? Ive seen them on the webs but never close up. What kind of money do they run? Will an older yammie triple 2 up pull one alright with two toddlers, with me and wifey on the sled? A buddy of mine has a place up on the Tug where we keep our sleds. Itd be all groomed trails no powder.

I had a 4 stroke ‘06 legend 1000cc that I sold last year. Great running sled and an awesome trail sled, but man was that thing front heavy. I’d hate to try ditch banging with one. On the positive side I could ride almost all day without needing to fill the gas tank.

I've got bridge clips I can donate. Can also help out.

Yamaha went all four stroke early 2000’s except for the little bravo it still looked the same as it did in the 1980’s I think they dropped that recently.

My wife liked riding my Yamaha nitro because she didn’t get the 2 stroke stink and it pulled out freight sled pretty good.

The other three Polaris , ski doo and Arctic cat mostly stayed two stroke in the performance sleds they do offer some four strokes now . I think about five yrs ago cat and Yamaha started there joint sled with the Yamaha 4 stroke .

I’ve only ridden a few newer sleds myself since I went to a hawk about 12 yrs ago. I still like beating on the old vintage sleds sometimes it’s demo derby on the trail lol

This is the only way to snowmobile. Those new sleds are stupid. Flogging a 40yo leaf spring sled on the trails is absolutely a blast. :flipoff2:
The old sleds are fun, but if I’m going to ride 200 miles a day I don’t want to feel like I was violated all day when I’m done. :flipoff2:

This is a hell of a good time new sleds are there also probably the best vintage ride in the U.P.

Colorado is getting hammered right now but it's early. This round will probably melt off quick. Sold the '94 indy classic years ago. Just got the Kristi these days. Ready once I change the oil.

Best sled I ever rode was a yamaha triple 4 stroke. Buried in tight trees it sucked. Everywhere else it was mint.
