Snowmobile season is almost here. Or is in some areas. Anyone want to get together for a ride.

When are you coming to Montana?:flipoff2:

We have ski resorts opening early. I'm already checking the sno-tel sites daily to see where we can start riding.

If your ever in the southern Colorado/northern NM area, I'd go for a ride.

Planning on doing the annual maintenance day on Sunday. Make a batch of Gutter Runner's Potato Soup in the driveway and do all the cleaning, new belts etc.

I ride the pagosa springs area. How far are you from there? What kind of riding do you do? Meadows and logging roads or are you tree riding?

I'm about 3 hours south. We tend to ride Cumbres pass and an area a bit north of the Brazos cliffs where we have a cabin. I like riding trees mostly.

We have three trips planned up north this year. I think next year we might try going west for one or two trips.

This is too much gun guys.
I haven't had any motorized snow fun since the 1970's
Dad was always buying odd-ball stuff that didn't run and saying, "here, fix this"
The oddest odd-ball was an Alsport Tracker ... came home with no engine, but did have tires AND skis.
Found a JLO single for it ... slow as a stone, but hilarious to drive (?) ride (?)
...not precisely this one, but just like it ...

Tin Roof - We usually ride out of Rhinelander, WI area. It's a 3 hour drive for me to get there. But I'm not picky about where we ride, We've done the drive till we hit snow and unload and go. Let me know if your headed to northern WI.

So youre going to mention this delicacy and not included a brief description/recipe? Thats just rude.

I was just up in NY on the Tug at my buddy's place last weekend getting the sleds ready and of course theyre getting snow this weekend and Im back on the coast.

Seems like a fed would know we've got a cooking forum too :flipoff2:

Google the recipe. It's all over the place.

You drive right by me to head up there :flipoff2:

Would love to go with you guys but I’m not a big long distance trail rider. I’m more of a go out Friday morning put on 60-90 miles piss pounding the old leafer then put it away for the weekend lol

Sounds like a day ride then! When the wife and teenagers go, it's usually 80 - 100 mile day and their done. I try and shoot for at least 2 weekends in Jan and Feb ea. to get the family up there. Looks like Feb 9th - 19th will be when we try and ride out to Maine from Rhinelander.

We are typically a couple hours west of you, the Cable/Hayward area. We'll be staying at Lake Gogebic the last weekend in February.

I can't imagine putting 100 miles on in a day. Plenty of 20 mile days, getting back to the truck and sore for 3 days after.

Photo from last year. Ride un-groomed logging roads mostly, and connect in between them in the trees...

I’ll ride 140-280 miles a day. 25-30 miles off trail is definitely a chore.

Any suggestions for a helmet that doesn't leak air? I bought a modular HJC, thought the quality was good, but even at slower speeds my face got blasted with cold air and no balaclava helped. Do I really need to spend $1K to get a helmet that doesn't leak air?

I just use the same stuff I use on a dirt bike in the summer (open face and goggles) but add a good balaclava. You need airflow to keep from fogging up.

I use a dirt bike helmet/goggles also.

Yeah thought of going the MX route. I guess I assumed full face would be warmer, but that hasn't seemed to be the case.

I had a Zoan modular that sealed up really well. I went the open face/goggles route for a few years with a good balaclava. That was ok until riding in -10 degree weather for 200 miles.

I bought a 509 modular at the end of last season to try this year.

Okoboji got 7-9” of snow. So we made a last minute (9:30 this morning and it’s a 3.5 Hr drive) decision to go to the lakes. I went on a 90 mile ride myself. Then took each kid out for a ride. They are ready for more night rides but I’m beat. So we will ride all day tomorrow. Me and the boy hit 80 tonight through a field. And smoked a rabbit with the right ski haha.
