Spin off: fastest you have ever been in a car on public roadways.

Somewhere north of 150 in a '91 ZR-1 Corvette as a passenger on a long straight back road at about 2am. Was also a passenger in a '95 Calloway SuperNatural 475 Corvette @ Charlotte Motor Speedway on the back stretch with the A/C on, was showing 185 when the owner lifted for turn three...

Around 140. That was the electronically limited top speed on my Lexus IS350 F Sport.

Did a few pulls on I-70 across Kansas.

Good to know.....we just picked up a 2011 is350 f sport for the wife's commuter...

Had it to 120 and it was quick:laughing:...but didn't max it out...

On our mustang....it still had petal left at 140...I felt more like the aero would not let it go faster....

There's still plenty of rev left at 140 and it's not straining until it hits the limiter. It'd probably be good for 160 with no limiter.

I touched 200kmh in an Audi 5000 turbo quattro 5 speed. Can't remember if it was the 86 sedan or the 88 wagon but I think it was the sedan. Loved those cars but the rust cancer got the better of them. Sold the 88 tornado red wagon to a father/son that had 'plans' but a few years later I saw it at the pick a part :frown:

I had a Jaguar XKE that was supposed to do 150. I got it to 149 and held it there. Just wouldn’t go that extra mile.

I had a 97’ Vette at 160 for awhile. Had our 16’ Vette to 170. neither of those cars were done at those speeds.

I actually had the Delorean to 112. Didn’t notice any fuzzy time.

Had the HEMTT to about 75. If you see me in that going that fast, please pull over. (I’m probably fixin to crash)

And I almost forgot, been at a 150+ a foot off the highway in a helicopter. Does that count?

As a passenger:

Scariest - 132 in a Buick Regal on a straight country road. Dumb country boys doing dumb country boy things.

Most surprising - 155 in a modded VW GTI on I-5. Testing if the new ECU tune removed the speed limiter. It did.

While driving:

I'm a pussy, 110 in my old GTI over a decade ago and that was more than enough. I haven't passed 100 since then.

Oh man, on those tires I'm sure that was a handful.

I once got a real HEMTT up to around 65 on a long downhill grade. That was scary, it was starting to get REALLY rowdy. Kept it at 55 after that.

And I was surprised to get 149 (gps confirmed) in some sort of Hyundai SUV rental. Pretty sure this still shows m as the max speed in my GPS. I’ll have to get a pic tomorrow.
A badass sportbike raced me when I was driving my '95 Supra TT Northbound on I5 out of Oceanside all the way to the checkpoint.
We averaged 140+MPH.

Topped out my scca ITS 240z at 135mph on i80 for like 10 miles straight. Felt like that bish was gonna shake apart and the rear diff was smoking when I stopped.

Hit an indicated 160mph in a evo x that I built for a customer. Passed a CHP and stayed in it until I thought I put enough distance between me and him and ducked down a wooded frontage road in the opposite direction.

You still have your 240Z?

Buddy of mine in San Diego has one:

Bounced the needle off the stop at 120 in my 1968 SS El Camino several times.

145 in a 1992 5.0 Mustang.

Hit the rev limiter in my 1991 300ZX TT several times, 162.

155 in my 1989 Porsche C4 964. 130 in the rain.

Test drove a used Porsche Turbo 993, got it up to 140 in 4th gear before the salesman told me to take it easy. I didn't notice the speed until he said something.

I had a 99 dodge 1500 in college.
Driving home on I5 by Santa nella doing 85 and notice that traffic is blowing by me, like everyone is passing me.
I catch up to the flow and am doing 115. There must have been 20 random cars all cruising that speed, not some club I found myself in.
Was pretty impressed with that truck until I wasn’t.

120-125 in my 88 CRX Si . It had a lot more in it, but it felt a little too light for my comfort. 120 as a passenger with four other in a late 60's Olds Delta 88. Felt like floating on a cloud.

150+ mph. 93 Lincoln Mark VIII. The tach never worked right when I bought the car, but never paid it any mind. One day I opened it up, and it just kept pulling. Went right past the 140 on the speedo and got it up to just before the "h" of kmh when I lifted. Turns out that whatever made the tach act funny, also defeated the speed limiter. Never tried it again.

I feel like this is unfair.

192 in an RS7. On the A5 near Frankfurt.
A couple of days every evening on the drive home.

2001 dodge 1500 is governed at 116mph fyi. Hwy 78 just west of Occotillo Wells dead of summer is where I found that tidbit out.

Fastest ever...140mph in not that 01 dodge. :flipoff2:

Shit, the taxi we took out of Munich was cruising at 120.

120ish in a 6.7 powerstroke...way back in the day something around 150ish in a 99 trans am

Never owned a 'fast' car. So 120-130.

Early 20s I was frequently sucked down on my tank, looking through the fairing, with the throttle pinned on my CB1100F. Wearing shorts and a tank top on hwy 6 between navasota and college station. I'd love another one some day.

Running 130+ is a vehicle just doesn't have the [lack of] fear of death like that.

As mentioned in other thread....130mph (just over 200km/h) in my Macan GTS and 140mph (around 230km/h) in my Mazdaspeed 3. The Mazda took a run to get there, the Porsche got there really easily and was still pulling but I just wanted to break 200km/h and call it a day, it does 105-110mph in the quarter mile.
200 is a good cruising speed in a Macan. It's a lovely Maschine.
