What's new
  • Forums will go offline Wednesday Dec 4th at 10AM CST for updates. It's a big update, so the site may be offline for a few hours.

Spin off: fastest you have ever been in a car on public roadways.

Golf R, 152. That was fairly calm and composed. Going 130 in my 68 Mustang GTCS was like staring death in the face.
yeah test driving customer cars I noticed that
brandy new five years ago wrx sti just feels real ho hum, it's fast, but you don't really notice it because of how casually it does everything

shitbox LTD might tach out at like 110, but by god you are going to die if anything bad happens

112 on dirt in a tacoma. I used to hit the speed limiter at least once a month in that truck and then the bearings went in the supercharger and ate the rotor shafts so the fun times ended.

Did 100 for an hour across WY towing a car trailer with 150 gallons of gasoline in drums strapped to it. I was following a Semi out of Washington and made excellent time between Laramie & Rawlins where my turnoff was. Old 3.4l took the 5k rpm floored for an hour like a champ.

111 mph in my Civic Si on my way to work.

Did 101 mph on the test drive with the salesman and wife in the car. Props to the salesman, he never bat an eye. Just said the troopers liked to hide up ahead.

Just North of 100 without even realizing it in a '20 STI on a test drive. Knew I'd lose my license with that car. That thing zipped to triple didgets in a flash.

140 sustained I 40 from needles to when the wife woke up.

2016 Chevy SS. LS3

Car was relitivly new, it was 0200 in the morning coming home from Az. I slowly eased into the throttle, wife riding shotgun asleep, son in back seat, speedo show 140 firm, 6th gear, we hit a slight incline and the car downshifts and the exhaust note gets loud, wife wakes up and asks what are you doing.

From the back seat in a dead serious voice my son says............. about 140.:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

145mph in a Jaguar XK8 convertible (stock) - ran into traffic and had to back off.

125 mph in my '01 Miata (coilovers/custom alignment/sticky tires) - felt that the car had more to give as it didn't feel floaty at that speed.

130mph in Audi A6 (stock) - car felt like a bank vault, incredibly stable and quiet on the inside.

I really do like this car.

Driving 95-100 in a Saturn sedan keeping up with a Camero heading south on i5 heading to my folks house in slo from sac state.
Riding 120ish in a buddy's mini Cooper cruising from slo down highway 101. He wasn't trying to haul ass

That is what I noticed. I would look and see 100-105 and let off. A few minutes later, same thing.

It was an 07 putting out approx 350hp.

187 mph in my 2017 Z06. Really wanted to hit the top speed of 197 with that car, but sold it before I had the chance.

And 129 mph in a L86 powered JK on 40s, which was way way scary compared to the corvette.

As mentioned in other thread....130mph (just over 200km/h) in my Macan GTS and 140mph (around 230km/h) in my Mazdaspeed 3. The Mazda took a run to get there, the Porsche got there really easily and was still pulling but I just wanted to break 200km/h and call it a day, it does 105-110mph in the quarter mile.

140 in a highway patrol tahoe. Trooper said it had a vibration at 90 when he dropped it to repair damage from hitting a low water crossing at 60 or 70. He asked me if it was good when he picked it up. Told him we balanced tire but didn't get it up to speed. Told me to get in and proceeded to hammer that bitch til we hit 140.

I had an '05 Subaru STI back in '06. Bought it with 3k on the odometer, so basically new. Ran it out to 155 a few times (limited) but decided to sell it because I was going to kill someone or myself with it. Now I drive like a grandpa and am fine with it.

I've done 160 in my 3 Challengers Ive owned. 2016 SRT, 2016 Hellcat, 2020 Scat Pack. Thats the speed I really start to distrust my tires and back off.

In highschool, my buddies mom had a trailblazer ss. As passenger, he got it to 140 in city limits. Felt like the doors could fly off.

Participating a sports car rally, my buddy and his ss with a blower/cam ls3, hit 170 on a highway in Georgia. Felt like the doors could fly off, and I made peace with life around 150.

I know that my o3 zo6 maxes 4th at 130, I may or may not have done that on my farm field filled 2 lane street. I have yet to see where 5th lands.

Fastest I've been in any car, including race track stuff was in my 72 Camaro "street car" when I first built it. It was set up with a 613WHP 18° SBC that spun up to 9000rpm, a built 700R4 trans, a 93 ZR-1 IRS with 3.42 gears in it and was rolling on 255/50/16 drag radials on all 4 corners. A buddy and I took it out on a very straight part of 195 in Massachusetts late one Saturday night and I held it to the floor in overdrive until the shift light came on at 8700rpm before I lifted. It had all Autometer aftermarket gauges in it and the speedometer went to 160mph and that bitch was buried well past. We did some mathing and figured we were going somewhere around 185-190mph in a car I built in my parents 1 car garage. I was pro touring before it was even a thing. :smokin:

That's the one vehicle I wish I would have never sold..... :emb4:

I had a 69 Nova set up as mostly a drag car. 2.73 rear though so it was a freeway flyer. Got its best mileage comfortably cruising around 90. I was young, dumb and invincible. Motor was well built, and would hit 8k before the msd chip cut it off. With 28 inch rears, 2.73's and the Drivetrain that was in it, I hit 6500rpm one night on a very straight back road. I calc-ed it (speedo was done, and very buried at 120) and it was roughly 180mph. That was extremely exciting, and never did it again.

145 on my old Buell cyclone tach'd out

150 in a worked over 06 mustang GT I built.

140 in my Lexus gs350 (stock)

And this is why I build off road stuff. I just can't stay out of the pedal when it's fast on the street.

This is the second fastest car I've ever driven but totally not street legal. It went 135-140mph down the straights at Thompson Speedway in CT with a 412hp 355 SBC. We built the chassis at my uncles shop (McCallum Chassis) and I painted and put the rest of it together in my parents garage. The good ol days.:smokin:
