What's new

Russia / Ukraine thread

completely word of mouth but I also got a email from a native teacher I know over there and he seems to think there is some allied air cover coming or being provided. Otherwise his info lines up with what's been already mentioned above.
Those planes are definitely providing eyes and ears for Ukraine.

putin is threatening finland and sweeden with military/economic consequences if they join nato. Seems like he is just never happy

You only lay blame to Trump, but don't include others. Sorry I didn't interpret your omissions.

Name one [sane] person who trusts the US government. The powers at be have been fucking anyone over to satisfy their agenda. It's not like the folks in DC are idolized for their upstanding behavior and trustworthiness.

"You can keep your Doctor"

They are all to blame, the ones with double terms more so.

And that is true but it's hard to strike alliances and deals if you can't be expected to hold up your end.

Agreed. It's all too late to save face now.

Putin got tired of something, deal gone wrong, and he's pushing his weight around. Wrong or right is public opinion... why the UN/NATO arent doing shit yet.

Its Ukraine/ex-soviet/Slav. All they know is corruption.

I have read and watched so much stuff this evening that I doubt I can find anything. Plus, none of it is being overtly said. More a general feeling. No Russians want to be bombed by nato which will happen if he keeps rolling into Poland.
what makes you think russia would invade poland?

imo there is zero chance russia escalates this any further than ukraine

Article 5 is only for if a NATO country is attacked...Ukraine don't count. Russia would have to go full retard and hit Poland or something.
Thread I was reading earlier intimated the cyber attacks against Germany counted. I think it's probably reaching a little, but NATO is moving shit to Ukraine's Western border

Maybe the tankers aren’t really tankers, and instead contain some form of intercepting weapon designed to knock out any icbm that Russia starts sending over. I know that’s a little too 007, but would be a fun thought…
They're tankers, sorry. Probably for NATO air assets, for sure. (depending on callsign) Damn sure there's elint planes over there sucking up all the data they can. Russia is still very much a threat to the US. The more info we can get, the better our projections become.

Also this. Damn near certain we're providing as much as we can to NATO, if not Ukraine directly.

russia wanting ukraine has been going on for years, russia is not going to invade poland and start a war with america, that makes zero sense
which is why the tester with armenia was interesting, using this same policy of contested areas. Then entering ukraine under the peacekeeping guise gave them all the room in the world. No reaction = keep going, international reaction = stay on the east side and build your bases for a while. win/win.

of course, russia likely didn't expect to lose as much stuff as they seem to be  and ukraine seems to be holding their own pretty damn well, all things considered

edit: let's say ukraine is successful in repelling this, I'd imagine they won't try to get in favor with NATO ever again :rasta:

From DOD website……
In 2016, the U.S. and Ukraine agreed to a 5-year concept of partnership that focuses on developing a robust and capable Ukranian military and reforming the Ukrainian defense sector to be in line with NATO standards and principles. The Bilateral Defense Consultations sets the priorities for the bilateral defense relationship for the next year in accordance with the partnership agreement, the defense official said. The consultations identify common goals and objectives for the U.S. and Ukraine to collaborate on, such as defense sector transformation, security cooperation, and acquisition reform.

Since 2014, the defense official said, the U.S. has provided more than $1.6 billion in security assistance to help Ukraine defend its territorial integrity, deter further Russian aggression, and progress toward NATO interoperability. Alongside key NATO allies, the U.S. is training and advising Ukrainian security forces in western Ukraine through the Joint Multinational Training Group-Ukraine to help improve Ukraine's internal defense capabilities and develop an institutional training capacity in accordance with NATO standards.

How long do we have to hold another countries hand before they can stand on their own? How much money is enough?? Serious question…..

Also the UK was part of the Budapest Memorandum as well. How many UK troops are currently on the way???

I wouldn't be surprised if Georgia was next on the list, rather than going west

It's accepted that Putin wants to see the former USSR borders reestablished. Since he already 'owns' Belarus, I can see him taking latvia, estonia, and lithuania back into the fold, then circling back onto georgia.

i don't know how stable the 3 north westerners' have been, but Russia was just in Georgia a decade (?) ago, so it would seem reasonable that they could make the same peacekeeping claim by now, or in a couple years so that each state settles down. slow pace, obviously Europe isn't going to lift a finger against anybody who isn't one of them, proper.

That is completely incorrect. We have never done that. Ever. Deplete the military aged male population. Where the fuck did you dream that up from ? Was that your mind or some web grab ?

SEOUL (Reuters) - Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un the significance of cooperation between the two countries, North Korea's state media KCNA reported on Saturday.

In a message to Kim, Xi said China is ready to work, together with the Korean side, to steadily develop the China-DPRK relations of friendship and cooperation ... "under a new situation", KCNA said.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) is North Korea's official name.

KCNA did not further elaborate on the nature of "a new situation."

Xi made the remarks in response to Kim's congratulatory message for the Beijing Winter Olympics Games and a verbal message of congratulation soon after the successful closing of the games, according to KCNA.

Earlier this week, Kim, in a verbal message to Xi, vowed to strengthen cooperation with China and together "frustrate" threats and hostile policies from the United States and its allies.

North Korea did not participate in the Games, which ended on Sunday. In a previous letter from sports authorities in January, North Korea blamed "hostile forces" and COVID-19 risks for not being able to attend.

North Korean athletes were not eligible to compete under their national flag after the country failed to send a team to the Tokyo Summer Olympics last year, citing COVID-19 concerns. China has been North Korea's only major ally since the two signed a treaty in 1961.

I am thinking Putin is sick or has gone off the rails completely. He isn’t getting a ton of support at home. Russian coup on the way?
Pay attention going forward. Watch his hands. Are they grabbing the podium? Why? Would they shake if he was not holding it on both sides?
Hmmm....

I have a solution that fixes 2 problems we have…
Decriminalize all illicit drugs in the US. The cartels want to make money, right? Well, China isn’t keen on drugs either, neither is the DPRK. Over 1B potential users. The cartels want to keep the $$$$ rolling in. They are better armed and equipped than many countries. Tell them we will get them a foothold on the Asian continent, but they have to do the legwork.
OPIUM WAR, part II, fentanyl edition!

The video showing from the other side, the one with the military truck, has close up after combat footage. Apparently it was an ambush carried out by Ukrainian soldiers on saboteurs of the Russian Federation, dressed in the uniform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It seems the most prevalent thought is that the car crushing was an accident. Distracted driver in a large vehicle with limited external view.
That second video with the guy hiding behind the tire and the other turns the corner and shoots him, who is Russian and who is Ukraine?
And is that tank on the side of the guy hiding or the guy that shoots him?
