What's new

Panzers: I break rocks thread

There's big, then there's bigger. Then there's the mines where they get real fucking big. :lmao:

That triple 7 is tiny compared to the big ones. The iron ore guys use up in the iron range.

A haul truck showed up today. Fuck these things are huge :lmao:. Backing them up will take some getting used too. :lmao:

I don’t think 75k was a bad deal. They are half the price a comparable cat or Volvo would be.

That should be fun. Did you look in to what it could cost to rent one for a month?

What's life span like of a surface rock truck? Our underground haul trucks go in for a Sandvik certified rebuild every 12k hours. We currently have a couple deere surface rock trucks on site for hauling waste. I believe they are rentals, we only use them a couple months a year.

I’m not a good renter. Would rent it for a month and only use it for a few days because of other shit comming up.

Unsure what the life is but we will only put 4/500 hours on them a year. Should last me a good while.

I think you need to setup a vacation package for irate members to come run the equipment for a few days.

Would be a fun change from my day to day at work.

I tear equipment up for some reason so I'd love to go tear his up. I still haven't replaced the track roller on my skid steer from almost 2 months ago that shit it's bearings out on that stumping job😁

I saw a place on web that does just that. Had a variety of heavy equipment to play on.

Only one I've seen is for children on stationary mini excavators with no real digging power and mini wheel loaders stuck at idle and only go maybe 2 MPH

Thus no tail gates for most operations that deal with more than dirt and small gravel. That had to be a hell of a ride
I chewed the operator out for loading this truck like this.

We have a truck with no gate for these loads.

Be surprised what will dump with one on though.

OH that wasn't just a random picture off the internet.

Damn did you all have to replace the seat on that one?

Haha, naw. He was fine.

Had one n00b flip one and he looked like he saw a ghost though. He was going too fast for conditions. Got shit canned after that ordeal. :lmao:

Had one that apparently liked to duck down under the dash of his 740 and smoke weed while he was getting loaded. Getting loaded while he was getting loaded, if you will. One day he dropped a tire in to the ditch alongside the haul road at speed and rolled the whole thing on it's side. He was also apparently too high to wear his seatbelt too. Company safety guy just happened to be there that day riding around with the project safety guy. For many years after that I used to hear him tell the story of how the cab looked like a crime scene from all the blood the dude splattered around from the gash in his forehead. :homer:

Our volvo got flopped backing down this spur:laughing:
Just keep in mind that you can be tryin to dump with the box leaned way the fuck over and you're sittin flat an level in the cab.............Not that that has ever happened to anyanybody.

This why you now only do driveshafts and joints for these dudes?

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Can a driver hurt a truck like that? I know he can tip it over, but I mean can he over rev the engine or smoke the clutch or something?

They are 6 speed automatics. Pretty much flipping them over is the biggest issue. The other big one is driving them in soft conditions putting tons of stress on all the main components. We will be driving on nice gravel roads so will not have to worry about that either.

Work has 6 cat 740’s that are mostly in the pit unless there’s a big site job going on. It was interesting to see 4-740’s be swapped for 2-772’s at the main crushing facility (30 acres of Astec crushers and conveyors). Made the crusher hopper bigger and they can keep up just fine.
There’s also the smaller 30 ton and 35 ton haul trucks used on site jobs, run by guys who love to drive fast and hard over everything. Some guys can’t go a week without flopping the rear body.

I flopped one in the middle of winter and basically slip into the ditch loaded on an icy haul road. Flopped the cab as well, it took a 345 to come upright it, checked the fluids and back to work. I called the owner as soon as it happened to let him know before someone else did. He couldn’t have cared less about the truck, just wanted to know if it was broken and if I needed another one to keep hauling.

After being around 777s for a few years, first time watching a 200Ton truck dump into the crusher was impressive. Material kept coming out.

I was just wondering how a 250 ton truck compared to a 777. It's been a few days since I've been around big trucks.
