Unchecked like the Dems have been the GOP would be sprinting towards a far right Christian theocracy. All the gay bullshit shoved in everyone's faces and schools would just be their religious bullshit and we'd have just as many foreign wars. They were doing that shit for 40 years which is why the pendulum swung like it did and why the far left has grown as fast and large as it has.

Going to be interesting to see how hard the pendulum swings back the other way with the later gen Zs and the generation after that

Well, to be fair, most of them did pay into it. (At least SS and Medicare) I would be happy to get a check for the amount I paid in and close them down. I would have been fine with that deal at any point in my career.

At this point, I hope the Ponzi scheme lasts till I’m dead. But it’s not fair to the young people.

If all of this doesn't collapse in on itself and we actually make it out the other side... in the year 2032 I'll get a $325 ticket for not going to church on Sunday.

On a more positive note- in the year 2032 that $325 will basically be five dollars. Money well spent IMO.

I'm more than halfway to retirement and at this point i'd settle for them to just not steal any more from me.

A lot of younger Gen Z are a bunch of little fascist christfags who are going to be every bit as obnoxious as the older ones have been. They've seen it growing up and there's already been a big shift in that generation away from all the far left nonsense.

Yea it will be interesting to see how that plays out. I found as I get older the christfags annoy me a bit less than the progressives. Then again it's probably because it's refreshing to not have to compartmentalize ourselves into what holes we like to stick body parts into or rub on before we can even start talking about anything.

If that was true religion as we know it would be great because those are always the parts that get ignored by the "religious". What we're left with is basically religion minus all the progressivism/collectivism.

I have no problem admitting that on paper all the socialism stuff is awesome. Unfortunately, you have to eliminate basic human nature for it to have any chance of succeeding hence why it always fails and ends up in authoritarianism. If socialism could actually work I'd be all for it but we've seen time and time again how it ultimately ends up. It's human nature. You can't eliminate the ego, greed, and the desire for power and control and to compete. So don't try.

Can be, but the nice part about that is that it's voluntary and not necessarily forced upon everyone. Force as in it doesn't have a trillion dollar per year funded army of men with guns to force it upon the populace, at least here.

I mean one could argue a camping trip when wheeling is collectivism. Im bringing beer, jack mehoff is bringing the fire wood, alotta fagina is bringing the food.....

Yeah, but I'm not talking 'oh they talk about Jesus nonstop so they're annoying" christfags. I'm talking full on militant, don't jerk off and think all porn should be banned, hate jews for killing Jesus and are vocal about it, think we should restart the Crusades, think the Bible should trump the Constitution, think all abortion is murder, think prayer should be mandatory, etc christfags. These kids have taken all the worst qualities of the militant SJW bullshit and then gone the opposite direction with the theme.

Yes in this time and location there are relatively few religions with actual direct coercive power. There are plenty that advocate for their flock to advocate for use of the state's coercive monopoly though.

And threats of everlasting damnation and hellfire for thinking about the wrong sky god too often could be considered the 'credible threats' side of the coercion equation, if you're of the sort to believe in such things

Voluntary association is voluntary, you aren't threatening any of them with a bad time.

Kinda like how some on here have trouble realizing that persuasion is not coercion. Arguing something's superiority ain't no actual threat to anything but the weaker idea's credibility.

In '08 I did. I was young and dumb. That was the last time I voted for an R or D for POTUS.

It was the Obama administration that started waking me up to a lot of political bullshit and COVID finished the job.

My point was that the state should have zero authority since all it has is threats.
