How hard is inflation going to hit, or has hit?

Just a thought-

If we go full on Venezuela crash, worst case scenario, I think the hundred thousandaires with their insane debt and property full of new awesome shit are going to make out better than the responsible/ sensible people.
It sucks but you're probably right. Here we are trying to do the right thing, and we're the ones that get boned.

If we go this route we will never make it back to “good times” in our lifetime.
We bounced back from the civil war pretty damn quick, Europe was bombed flat 70yr ago and is economically fine now (ideology is a different story), etc.

I'm willing to take the risk.

I'd be all for avoiding a civil war. Kind of want to focus more on spending time using the r/c's with my kid, riding motorcycles, and spending time outdoors; not stacking bodies like a deleted scene from 300.

buy gold/sliver or other non parishable goods then wait for a crash trade for corn or vegetable oil. make bio Diesel now trade for even more valuable commodity for more oil.

Isn't that the usual case for awhile now? Bust your ass to stand on your own while eating bologna and lazy ass people whip out the EBT and eat whatever they like in their Section 8 housing with subsidized utilities and chatting on their Obama phones.

I'm not heartless and I know there are those that try and struggle...no issue with them. But I'm fucking sick of the bullshit when it comes to the "poor". The poor today is nothing like the poor when I was growing up. Getting food stamps was shameful and people would go as far away as they reasonably could to use them. Today, a fucking EBT card is like a badge of honor or something.

Every day. Sometimes every hour. I'm punched in on the clock making shit pay, and I get requests from people on the disconnect list not to call before 9 because they're still sleeping.

Gas when I started driving in 2000 or so was $1.09 a gallon here, and I made $5.15 an hour at the local hardware store. :homer:

On the current topic, I’ve noticed our grocery bill has gone from $400-$450 a month to $1,000 a month.

It’s like the Obama years all over again when you’re just broke…and the wife and I make really good money.

Our grocery bill has been noticeably higher too. $398 last week. It is consistently $300-$400/wk now.

Yaw. Family of three, were in the $250/week range. Sung in real quick last night to get some basics; milk, hamburger buns, etc. Nothing major. $80 and were in the 14 items or under line.

Wife and I are at about $250 week for food. No going out and few "luxury" food items.

I've gotten my mind stuck on daily income requirements to exist. $45 a day property tax liability, $36 a day food, variables like fuel, power, insurance, registrations, etc. Paid for with what the gov let's us keep. Makes me fucking sick and I can't relax. It's like a clock ticking and I'm trying to beat it every day.

I haven't noticed an appreciable change in my food bills, but I also buy meats by the 1/4 or 1/2 and stick it in my freezer. Got an amazing deal a couple months back on a half hog, so I'm pretty well set for the next few months (still have a bunch of beef, too). I also bought all of the near-expired premium chicken breasts and strips that were about to expire in March and tossed them in my freezer.

Being a cheapskate and looking for deals hasn't changed. I'll go to the store and buy the loss leader in the ad just to toss it in the freezer, even if I have no use for it at the moment, like the 20 lbs of chicken leg quarters I bought in April for less than $10. I'm actually at the point where I have to stop shopping for deals in order to make room in the freezers again.

Yeah, they sure had their moment in the sun 6 months ago with their home equity and not being upside down on the bro dozer for once. If they got smart and liquidated and down sized, they win the game. But very very few did.

I am fixing my credit so that I can gather some productive debt during this crash, I'm thinking rental properties

Funny I should mention this... My wife just texted that she was going to place a grocery order and if I had any input... I responded "where do you plan to 'input' the food once it gets home? The fridge and freezers are about full." She said "Never mind then I guess. That's true."

Rentals? After the two year rent free fiasco from the .gov?

I told a buddy of mine he should sell his 21’ 1 ton GMC for $15,000 more than he paid. It’s paid off, but still…why not take advantage of idiots?

I make almost as much in rentals as I do going to work. Tenants have all paid and not a single issue through all of this. In fact, I just issued a notice of rent increase this past weekend. I had a tenant say right to my face, oh, $100? I expecting a LOT more. No problem at all!

Yeah, even with that

We're gonna have a recession/ crash/ depression, and on the other side of that, the usd and likely other fiat currencies will be printed into oblivion, I have an inflation plan, but I want to make a bigger play.

There is a local machine shop by me that builds soybean presses to make bio diesel.

I should see what they entail.

You're at the low end of the price range for whatever you're renting. People don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

The landlord equivalents of the "I know what I got" type idiots are the ones who's tenants balk at an increase.

yea, we take good care of our tenants. Dad and I have both spent 3+ hours on the road round trip after dinner to replace the battery in a smoke detector. that sort of thing. we also under charge a bit. we could make a lot more, but we rather just have the happier tenants.

Happy tenants don't trash the place.

wellllllll sometimes they don't.

back when I was in high school, Dad had to evict his first tenants. it was a disaster. trashed the place. opened the windows, cranked the heat. it was winter time too, so there was snow everywhere. a week or so after, we got more snow so Dad went over to plow the driveway. He's making the snowbank and all this shit comes out of it. tv, coffee table, chairs. they buried all their shit in the snow.

that was the worst though. never had an issue outside of that.

i'd expect more guys on here to do this than it seems. My grocery bill for the wife and I is probably averaging $75/wk. Every time I hit a supermarket I walk the meat dept for clearance/super sale deals and they get stocked away, very very rarely pay full price. Treat most things the same - i'll stock up and leave it in the pantry. Latest was ground beef for $1.70/lb, 0.50 pasta, etc.

kids change it for sure, they add a whole other level. but $30 for 2 steaks ain't worth it to me at all we'll eat pork

every week. I've got two freezers stocked pretty well too. not sure what happened with sausage though. I must have gone on a spree there. I probably have 40+ packages.

I haven't eaten steak in I don't know how long. lol
We eat a lot of pork and chicken. Even chicken breast is almost $3 a pound now at Sam's. 90/10 burger is $4, Pork loins are $2/lb roughly.

Same.

Minimal debt, both make great middle class $$$ for our area, even with little kids we could go and spend whatever we wanted and pile up savings.

Now the savings deposit has been turned off, 401k loss is greater than what my 1st house was, and the money in both is worth half what it was just a few years ago.
But you can't put a price on protecting freedom and democracy in Ukraine, so all that you loss, should be offset by that good feeling down in your soul, knowing that you are sacrificing for people you will never meet.:usa:
