What's new

Ford Maverick

catskin brand is just a seat cover alot of the dealers use around here. allot of replacing cloth seats with cat skin leather.

my brother had the dealer replace the factory cloth with catskin leather... factory leather is way better in the long term, but the catskin felt better at first
In my experience Katzkin wears better than OEM leather from the 05-2015ish era. I don’t have experience with it on vehicles newer than 2015.

Loaded with 12-ft and 8-ft planks.

good to know. the only knowledge I have is from my brothers truck.... I don't/ cant imagine ever caring about a rig enough to reupholster. electrical tapes working pretty good for my work trucks armrest:homer:

My buddies does 26-30 mpg at 80 depending on wind and hills. 2.0T/awd
my last drive in my AWD/2.0T was from Montrose CO to Breckenridge CO, mostly between 80 and 85 on I70 and got 28 mpg for the trip

What's it like at 80?

Drops noticeably. The instrument panel showed 35.9 which is -1.5 corrected at pump to approximately 34 1/2 mpg. If you drive aggressively, ie 80 mph up a long grade, say 3-5% for 4 miles or so you can kick it down below 30 mpg. This is an economy vehicle and it drives like one. There is no, zero gratification like you might recall from your 5-sp 96 Mustang 5.0 or similar. It just drones along in CVT with battery assist. drone drone drone drone. .. . . . .

That second, lower spot is the normal flat gate attachment location. I did carry 4x8 CDX at highway speeds but was nervous. I hate shit flopping out and causing comedy. BTW I did plant that fucker back in February in about 10-inches of fresh loose snow. Hit a baby drift right where I turn and climb a short little grade. Shovel, beer, then 7 point turn and out.

FIFY. “Car guy”. :flipoff2:

Putting airbags on my buddy’s maverick today. Will report back on ease of install. Should be cake since they are inserts to the coils.
Easy money. Easy way is pull tires and lower spindle and shock bolts. Spring falls out on ground. Flatten bag and stuff into coil that’s clamped in vise.
If you have good hand strength you can do it under the rig. Lots of room to run hose. We put the shraders on the drivers side of the bumper. Forgot to get pictures. :homer:
His kit came with a heat shroud for the exhaust. We also ran the lines in wire loom just for peace of mind.

Tow test tomorrow.

It was a sedan, but I could get ten 40# bags of wood heating pellets in the trunk
You're supposed to put shit like that in the 2nd row floor for optimal weight distribution.

My brother and I stacked a Camry full of roofing shingles like that. Worked great.

they go on top
Say nothing of 12+ft objects. Pipes, canoes, rebar, framing and trim lumber, etc.

So nice to load and unload that shit at chest level rather than 7ft in the air on a lumber rack on a modern pickup.

Not bad looking for a Ford!

these things are fugly in person

I was in Iceland a couple weeks ago and saw what I'm pretty sure was a Nissan version of the Maverick. Seem to remember the "bed" having a weird angle related to the cab, but it was another small pickup option that won't make it to the US
