Ford Maverick

Yeah, I change the oil on my wife’s hybrid every 5k with Mobil 1 as well. I hadn’t really thought much about the start stop nature of how it works until this thread…:homer:
Hybrids generally have lesser oil capacity than their traditional brethren, therefore the intervals remain the same.

My Prius only takes 4.4 qts. My F150 takes 8, XC90 V8 7.7, and the FJ62 8.2. Even my Harley takes 4 qts.

Hybrids generally are 4-cyl and have similar capacities as their full time ICE 4-cyl versions. You compared a tiny 4-cyl to a 7.7L V-8.
A Yaris similar in size etc to your Prius has nearly identical oil capacities. Our Hybrid Elantra takes 4.2 qts and our conventional one 4.0.

The EcoBoost Maverick has a slightly lower oil capacity in the hybrid also.

This is while the ice engine is running right before it switches to electric

And this is while it's electric just before it switches back to ice.
I'd say if you're cruising between 30 to 40 without stopping or accelerating it probably does about a quarter mile electric and then about a quarter mile gas.

Ya. Entirely different engines. The hybrid is a 2.5L and the Ecoboost is ? 2.0L ?? Can you elaborate on the "Atkinson cycle" 2.5L ? I Read that generally it aoperates in a narrow rpm range with modified ignition and valve timing system to maximize torque over a defined rpm range. Coupled with the battery boost, CVT and ECU it can maximize output very efficiently. Not common is the long history of American car engines . . . .

7.7L was the oil capacity, its only 4.4L of displacement.

A Tacoma 2.4L takes 6 quarts.:homer:

Oil capacities have increased with the introduction of GDI to combat cylinder wash down. This is why Kia engines have been sucking lately, they only have a capacity of 3.8 quarts on a 2.5L CDI
