Driveway Alarms

You have a point
but....they are really trying to have an 'association' at the end of the road, and I will in no way be sucked into any level of participating in it. In fact the old fuck down there (the neighborhood Karen) has already tried to trick me into some shady paperwork that I still did not participate in. This would be a whole different thread
....I have a gate:grinpimp:
Get ahead of that shit and propose your own association just to install a gate. :flipoff2:

Actually this might head that off and be brilliant. Propose an association just to add the gate to your road maintenance agreement. specifically prohibit any other HOA type things except wholely contained in any properties within the road maintenance HOA. :smokin:

I will move before anyone tells me what I can do with my stuff
I don't do HOA's of any type

the idea is great, just not ay my house :grinpimp:
not to mention logistically the gate will be 1100 feet from the nearest power outlet (me) and that isn't going to happen

HOA bits aside, power logistics are easily handled with solar.

they can be
up there it is heavy tree cover, as in zero direct sun at all times
and the bigger issue, it isn't my property where the gate would go
and the even bigger issue, I'm just not doing it because I don't want to take on that adventure :grinpimp:

It has been a few months, this story has taken a few turns
The above installed driveway alarm has works wonderfully (even though it looks gay)

But over the last 10 months something has still been off
It is just myself and my daughter here at the house, in the middle of 10 wooded acres. Both of us independently have mentioned that we get the feeling that we are being watched at times. Other times one of us would get a slight whiff of cigarettes' smoke late at night. Just enough to take another sniff just to be sure that you smelled what you thought that you smelled, but that would be it
Other times I'd be thinking that something smells like a vape, the kid would mention that something smells like a vape. Times we would get in the car, and it would smell of smoke
The kid still swears that she sees things in the dark, but I would never see them (like the beginning of this story)
She has been saying it for months, her eyes and ears and better than mine hands down, but every time she says it I go out there and there is nothing. Typically it is something like a twig snapping that gets her to look up
Meanwhile I purchased a thermal gun to help see into the shadows at night. I don't see anything other than wildlife. She still sees things when I am gone, and she is alone
I get game cameras, got footage of our bear (posted in the game cam thread)
The other night she peeked around the corner with the thermal, and says that she sees a person, naturally there was no card in the camera.
Moved the game cameras to a trail that I have noticed is getting used often but figured we have lots of deer
went to check the game camera, and the SD card was missing. Not only missing, but they attempted to put the cover back on, so I know it wasn't a wildlife creature
I move the cameras to ladder-heights into different trees
The kid swears there in someone poking around and getting into her stuff, I have noticed that things 'just seemed different' a time of two over the months, but the big ticket items were there (guns)(but I swore I had more money in the shop projects envelope, but there is still money in the envelope sort of deal)

This week, I naturally am out of town, and I get the phone call. They are back
This time she did get a thermal picture that matched her story that she could see someone watching her

I pulled the game cam, this him/her is on it

all if the pictures, show this, no skin tone, hood up, looking down

so, the hunt is on.
any tips/tricks of you that have solved this problem in the past, I am all ears

As far as I know, this individual had no clue that I am onto them, and I want to keep it that way until it gets resolved properly
I have four more game cameras that should be here in the morning. This person has to walk in, there is no where to park within 1/4 mile, and there are few houses that home any of the younger crowd (not retirees) I am trying to narrow down where they are coming from so I can focus on getting rid if them

Just so everyone knows, I am trying to stay out of jail, and digging a hole will get get you there at a later date for a longer stay

and the scary part, they seem to be focusing on my daughter, and I have no sense of humor for that shit

Dang...I'd be sitting in the woods until I caught him.

About a week ago my general manager got a text from his neighbor with a pic of a guy walking between their properties. Middle of the day, oversize coveralls, Hispanic and just not fitting the area, even for a laborer. And he had to have walked through a swamp to get where he was. My GM has a couple trailcams but did not get him at all. His son is 11 and would be getting home from school in about an hour...he was pretty concerned.

I told him to leave and make sure everything was good...said if it was me I would have been out the door in a heartbeat and all he had to do was tell me he had an emergency. Also said I would have been calling the cops ASAP.

The other guy's wife saw him earlier in the day walking along the road...barefoot. Nobody else saw him and everything was OK by his house.

Put up blink cameras everywhere and set them to alert at night. Get a big German shepherd or similar. Give your daughter mace and a knife. Walk your property and secure anything that could be used to break in or as a weapon against you. Ladders, axes, etc.

Did a hole 6'x3' and 6' deep next to where they is walking/standing... Next, Id set up a target next to it and make it look like a rifle range.
There is no law against target practicing at night. (different states may very) I vote the trip wires thing as a main line of defense. No live ammo though.

X2 on call the cops if you aren't deleting this thread to dig a hole.
insert "Calling the cops never helps anyone" here
Calling the cops will just put you on the watch list when that person goes missing. Its okay though. IF they arrest him, he will just get out of jail in less than a year and be back bothering you.

If it where me, I'd drop him off at 486's and let him have his way with him. :stirthepot:

Someone needs to stop this guy before something happens to your daughter.

I’d be camping out in the woods waiting for him.

The cops could already be looking for him.
Or have a idea who it is.

Big dog, or pay some bums well to remove him if you don't want a dog.

Or load up your cash envelope with counterfeit cash and let them go down for that.

I'm surrounded by woods and I'd be in that tree with my vehicles parked off site and lights off like nobody is home if it were my place.

No idea on your laws but fucking around "at night" on my property could be a death sentence...
I'd call your bluff on that.

Less than zero chance anyone here shoots someone without giving them a chance to fuck off first.

Maybe there's one guy but it's certainly not gonna be anyone who talks like that or anyone we expect.

Also, y'all are crazy the cops are gonna seriously look for someone based on verbal statements and a blurred picture. At best it's just gonna be used as evidence when he steals your shit and then 6mo later they catch him for something else.

I wouldn't shoot them, I'd have no problem making sure they felt lucky to escape though.

Or some other adult version home alone type shit

There are a ton of people in rural areas that will do that, if they think there is a legit threat. They are the ones that avoid these posts like the plague.

He isn’t there to steal anything .
this has been going on for almost a year. He’s there for his daughter.

I bet he wears that hoodie all over the place.
and I bet the cops have seen him. Getting The cops involved is the only way that this is going to stop.

Have your daughter keep her head on a swivel when she isn’t at home because she has seen this guy at school or someplace else.

And setting up booby traps could get you more jail time than this guy will get.

I know arse is going to be an arse (himself) but in my area notifying the cops that I've been having an issue makes it public record so if I were to feel the need to neutralize the threat at some point in the future...it's on record.

Will they prevent anything? Probably not

I don't remember if I mentioned this, my neighbor had a few weird things going on, called the cops and they found a homeless encampment on the corner of their property and state land. They said it looked abandoned but would check occasionally. Really surprised none of my stuff went missing, but we did make changes after that.

Don't label them booby traps, just make sure your no trespassing signs are clear and have a cam of him walking by them

It doesn’t mean anything.
You can walk right by no trespassing signs.
You can even take a selfie with it.
Until somebody comes out there and verbally tells you/him that they need to leave.
when they/you refuse to leave then you can call the cops in an attempt to have the no trespass law enforced.
