Do you have family that can come for a visit while you get your defences sorted? More people around all the time can be a decent deterrent. Do you know anyone who can loan you a thermal scope?

that is the thing, My family is as broken as the next.
We are down to a couple local family members, and they are toxic as they get. Enough that I have disassociated with them, and my kid hates them.
I have a thread or two here looking for advise to make things better with them, but it basically boils down to: I am the asshole in the family because I will not let the older generation show up at my door when they re having a temper tantrum and are throwing the 'fuck yours' around. It is always them jumping to some conclusion and are mad at a story they have made up in their head. Asking them to tell me what they are actually are mad at makes their head pop, because they never have anything to be mad at that I have done to them
Naturally, I am the one and only person in the family that has the spine to stand up to this shit and not allow it, so I (we) have been banished (I have been ok with this for a long time)

I can go on to another thread about the various fucked-up things, but just to get you on track, I am out of my lane for speaking up when Grandma (100) isn't even dead, but in assistive care, and they are selling her shit, and renting her house out before she is even in the ground
All while she is asking to go home over and over and over

I have no family
no, they don't know either as they were on the suspect list for a long time

edit: game cam picture cleared that person, it is not them

I think Grandma there would say that she appreciates you in her lane. Sounds like you were the only one to show some dignity and respect for her. Good on you. No regret.

I asked her if she wanted busted out of there, She didn't want to drama that it would cause
I aint skeered, but her kids are 70y/o brats and unfortunately she let that happen, so there is some accountability on her part,

I went through the same with my grandmother. She didn't stop my mother from keeping me away from her.

I do not have family that is blood related to me anymore. Best thing I've ever done for myself.

It sucks, because you are always the asshole for drawing a boundary, but I am the guy that does it on my family

I was picked on by mother and stepmother both. I know the things they said about me when I still wanted them to like me, I cannot imagine what they label me as now. :laughing:

I absolutely love holidays and my birthdays now without all that family drama.

Nothing wrong with towing that line with authority! Good for you :smokin:

Some people should not be allowed to raise children, neither of mine were good parents.
