Did ya hear? Covid is over!

Fuck no it wasn't.

The wordt thing the hoax people claimed was to be left the fuck alone. High risk could always live however they wanted even surrounded by hoaxers
Not true. I have a coworker whose family all lives together on a large piece of property- He lives in a built out section of their barn, his parents in a large house, and his brother's family in an ADU type setup off the main house. His brother's family are hardcore anti-vaxxers. Not just COVID shots, but all vaccines.

Anyway, during covid lockdowns, his brother's family decided the whole thing was a hoax. "It's just the flu" was their line. During the time they lived there, brother's family caught covid twice, but refused to test or anything like that. The first time they then gave it to my co-worker's parents(by way of visiting them in the main house, having dinners there, etc), who then gave it to my coworker. His dad had to be hospitalized as a result and that's how everyone learned it was covid. The second time, it wasn't as serious since it was a different variant that happened later on. At the point my co-worker saw what was going on and avoided them until everyone was well, but once again both his mom and dad caught it from his brother's family. Dad wasn't hospitalized this time, but was bedridden for a week. His mom ended up testing herself and his dad and yep, covid again.

It's one thing to claim its a hoax and keep to yourself. It's another to get sick, claim it's no big deal and them spread it around elderly and at-risk people.

Awesome, a smaller population died because of a lifetime of their own decisions. Fuck off with it :rasta: edit:hell nobody even died in your example :shaking:

I care more about the 30-50 people publicly reported killed directly due to the BLM riots during covid lockdowns. Bigger group and failed by even more shit policy to top it off.

Pneumonia is deadly, all Sars variants are deadly. Don't visit when sick, it's that simple. Live your life appropriately to your own risk. If they think everything is a hoax then it is on others. If they lived a life supporting people with that attitude, they may as easily have killed their at risk family trying to pray the gay away, so it's a non-issue again.

There is zero equivalency between the risk to society of the two extreme attitudes.

Yes, being old is a shitty decision for people to make. What sort of fool wants to live a long life anyway? :flipoff2:

How about this for a suggestion- let's not take it to extremes and let's not defend people who do?

Don't pretend that super duper lock down, double masking, and forcing people to get a shot they don't want is ok. Also don't pretend that completely ignoring a disease and taking zero precautions not to spread it to those who could actually get fawked up from it is ok. There's a happy medium in there that 90% of the population should be able to manage.

Except 90% of people cannot manage that. The 5% who desire immeasurable control dominated 90% of that apathetic group while the 5% who desire to ignore everything dominated non of them.

4 fucking additional risk factors on average for death. Exceptions? Sure, but that us a fuckton more than just being old. Even proposing equivalents between the two extremes as both dangerous to society demonstrates how effective and influential the extreme control group is.

Fuck em.

The other extreme I can simply treat with caution.

Being made to feel like a piece of shit for going outside by others, as well as making concessions for old people that aren't even outside rubbed me the wrong way the whole time. And I like old people.

Outside was flooded with old people as they were trying to shut down the out doors, and then they did. None of the old people I ever met would wish death and failure on their kids or grandkids so that they might avoid a disease. The ones that were scared shitless apparently stayed inside.

The old people line doesn't hold up for shit.

I'm really confused about the "shut down outdoors" line? Around here that's where everyone was during covid. County parks, blm land, campgrounds, bike paths... all insanely crowded. My buddies and I were selling our old mountain bikes for waaay more than they were worth because everyone wanted to do outdoorsy stuff once the bars, bowling alleys, movie theaters, etc were closed.

Oh yeah? Arrested the surfer, filled in the skate park with sand, took off the basketball hoops...all in California specifically to discourage people being outside.

Washington state shut down all state and county land access, federal shut all their gates as well.

You are confused because you were turning a blind to how absolutely fucking wild the control extreme went.

But hell, gloss over shutting down bars and gyms and barbershops because that is clearly the same level of a family who doesn't believe in any vaccines and thinks the flu is made up

Fuckin sweet, contentious covid thread just like the good old days of 2021. Good Times!

It's all been hashed over so many times and the data is so tainted I'm not sure where that leaves us.

I think the Flu needs a hype man, it was killing old people before it was cool.

Covid did actually cure the flu. Seasonal flu deaths dropped to comparative zero in 1 season flat!

Just in time to add “defeated Covid” to his list of accomplishments for the presidential campaign
Knew that would be the case the moment they said he won.

"Under my leadership, we. beat. COVID. Let me say that again. We. Beat. COVID! I righted the ship after the previous administration got it all lost of course. I brought us back. I made us healthier. I took neccesary steps to make the American people healthy again. I. Ended. COVID. I ended it." He'll be doing something weird with his hands as he says it.

you might want to go back a few years... they shut down beaches, parks, cited people for being outside, etc...

With the creepy whisper voice or the out of place yelling voice?

I know I'm the only one contentious over it as the Johnson wasn't a lockdown supporter during and is just seeking a reconcilatory tone, but holy fuck it wasn't very long ago. People are rapidly getting all fucked up and smoothed memories over it.

Dying wife from a car accident? Sorry, no visitors, collect the body in the morning.

I'm sure it is based in real conversations that people want to say, well both sides had extremes that were bad. Just no, nobody in the apathetic or reasonable 90% should be able to go along with that.

Anybody that does needs to go ahead and be fucking honest with themselves and say they are the complicit 50% to their 5% extreme in favor of control.

Or just maybe they could be bothered to remember our literal equivalent of the Chinese cultural revolution, filled with destroying the Olds and killing the designated oppressors and new normals at lower levels, actually did occur and 1 side was far more impact full to the outcome as extreme compared to the other. That disparity in inherent in the positions, not just the random event.

It is a far greater benefit to society as a whole and peaceful coexistence to have skepticism to power than submission.

Going to have to see what happens when they try it again. And they will try it again.

I think passionately reminding people of what happened is the best way to keep it alive, we have a whole generation scarred by our reaction to covid, we need them to remember who did that to them and why.

Absolutely nothing.

Somebody brought up waco and the atf, I made a comment and they said something how I almost sounded like a conspiracy theorist. Had to remind them I was alive for that and they weren't, so which of us was subjected to more theories?

Point of that story is one that evernoob likes to harp on, Oklahoma city bombing was in response to waco amd ruby ridge and years of telling people. The atf and fbi haven't stopped being fucked up.

They shut our local parks down.

You picked 3 examples in a massive state with 39 million people, probably because those are the ones you saw on the news. I lived here and there was nothing BUT people outside doing outside things. The trails I regularly mountain biked suddenly got 100x the traffic it was noticeable. That was on county park land, blm land, and city bike parks. Keep on citing one skate park in a state of thousands.

All I do is spend time outside. During the lockdowns we had public land get shut down for wildfires occasionally, but nothing for covid. Here's a year's worth of proof.

If you could go ahead and stick with the chicks in bikinis forms of proof that would be greeeeaaatt.

Again, I can only speak for what happened locally, in the beginning they were treating them like they had a flu or cold virus. The residents still died because this shit hit them hard. It caused severe respiratory distress, which just doesn't fare well with 80-90 year olds.

I still believe this was all over-hyped, but old people and unhealthy people died from whatever this virus was or whatever you want to call it. It was truly different than what we've seen in recent history.
Early on the w.h.o. Recommended anyone under 93 blood oxygen go on a vent, that number went to 85% or lower by June 2020 then the deaths slowed down. if you were in a home with a sniffle It was elder genocide

That's insane. It's easy to say it was deliberate with hindsight. I dunno. Pre COVID if your oxygen numbers were low, you'd get the vent. Just seems like the right people have access to the right information to me.

Today neighbor down the street was pulling weeds in his front yard, by himself, wearing a mask. I guess to him, it's far from over.

The virus didn’t really kill that many people.

The doctors who failed to treat the sick killed them. The government who failed to properly react killed them. The CDC who banned effective treatment killed them. Hospitals killed them.

Causes of death were rarely the actual disease.

Just wait until you read about Remdesivir and how it causes most of the side effects that patients does of…

I have lost all faith in the medical field as well as continued lack of faith in the government.
