I get what you're saying, but the world has been at war since its existence. It's going to continue that way for the foreseeable future. War isn't the foundation upon which I want everything to be based on, but trying to shove it in a closet isn't going to help.

China isn't preparing for ship vs. ship combat. Russia might be, but China isn't. So why the proliferation of ships? It's to project international might and control vital trade routes. A smart move. Throughout human history the richest countries also had the most powerful militaries. Those militaries aren't just for prosecuting wars, but to protect their interests. I don't believe anyone is ready to use nukes, Putin included. But their is a global game of musical chairs going on, and America is going to be left standing if we don't mitigate the rise of Russian/Chinese influence.
