What's new

Coronavirus (COVID-19) (SARS-CoV-2)

I think you're ignoring reality. Multiple states are running short on ICU rooms. Numbers have been rising sharply ever since Memorial Day and hospitalization generally trails a positive test by 2-3 weeks. I would agree with your "no concrete evidence" if I was talking about another lockdown. IMO, that's not warranted. But snowflakes acting like a simple face mask is greatly inhibiting their life or infringing on their freedoms are just laughable. It's a very simple step to take that is minimally intrusive and has been clinically shown to GREATLY reduce the spread of this virus. I'm sure a bunch of people bitched and moaned about their freedoms and the massive inconvenience of wearing a seatbelt when they were first invented too. The big difference here is that failing to wear a seat belt primarily just impacts the person making that decision while failing to wear a face mask impacts everyone you're encountering.

Mask wearing and infection rates correlatively increased together. As mask mandates increased, so did infection rates

What data? Are you trying to suggest that mask mandates did not increase or are you suggesting infection rates haven’t increased?

I want to see data supporting exactly what you stated. That infection rates and mask wearing rates are directly correlated. I can provide you actual clinical evidence that mask wearing greatly reduces the spread of the virus.

Where? Everything I've seen shows hospitalizations dropping.

Seven states are reporting new highs for current coronavirus hospitalizations, according to data tracked by The Washington Post — Arizona, Arkansas, California, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas — as the number of infections continues to climb across the South and West.

First google hit

Hospitalizations from Covid-19 are also rising in 16 states as of Wednesday, according to a CNBC analysis of data compiled by the Covid Tracking Project.

Some states are hitting new highs every week as the number of cases continues to rise at an alarming rate. While some of these surges can be attributed to increases in testing, hospitalizations from Covid-19 have also grown substantially.

We don’t live in a clinical trial. You can’t provide evidence that a mask reduces the spread because real world data shows that it doesn’t.

if you need to see the data, google it. It’s literally easy

I'm not sure "record high" really means anything. Is it record high of COVID? Cause no crap - it's a novel virus, any increase of 1 person = record. Is it record high hospitalizations as a whole? Probably not - hospitals are still shutting down, empty, laying people off in many areas (last I checked).

Are Covid hospitalizations approaching H1N1 yet? I haven't honestly checked.

There's no stopping the virus w/o herd immunity.... And I don't hear much about the other impacts of the lockdowns on suicide, and other related deaths... I'd suggest, but cannot prove, that we're net negative on lives saved by shutting down.

You don't have the data because it doesn't exist. Thanks for playing.

It's not a record high in terms of ongoing number, it's a record high of currently occupied hospital rooms.

I honestly gave you too much credit. You are just fucking stupid

what does “hospitals are still shutting down, empty, laying people off in many areas” have to do with corona hospitalizations?

Stop moving the goal posts. Fawk... stay on one subject. If you can't do that, you shouldnt be posting...

Most of my post quoted you. Care to try the weak troll attempt again. Try to muster some long forgotten brain cells

So, which doesn’t exist in your mind?

the increase in mask mandates AND usage

or

the increase in infections?

Man, I wish someone had already compiled this data, oh wait...

https://www.inquirer.com/health/coro...-20200624.html

Nine states have reported at least a doubling in their cases versus two weeks ago. Those states are: Idaho, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, West Virginia, Arizona, Kansas, Mississippi and Nevada. Of those nine states, none require masks, two suggest masks, seven neither require nor suggest masks.

links? The article you posted didn't say a whole helluva lot.

I mean, it's kinda understood isn't it? If it was a cumulative number, then all 50 states would have record highs not just 7.

Okay, what I keep looking at from places like WorldoMeters is that the U.S. daily deaths are decreasing every day. Hospitalizations don't always mean people are seriously critical. My sister works in an ER, has literally admitted people over night, and they've been released the next day, because they were fine.

All I can say that locally, our hospitals are permanently eliminating positions, and laying off healthcare works like crazy. Last number I heard were 60 employees. We don't live in a highly populated area, so that's quite a bit in our small hospitals.

So, if you guys can post actual numbers, and/or pictures or videos of ICU's being overrun with COVID-19 then it might actually have some weight. Just saying things are increasing with no substance doesn't say shit, like rockota said.

so, it's your theory that states who do not have a mandate to wear masks, never had a mandate to wear masks showing an increase in transmission is somehow refuting the fact that the increase in mask mandates and the increase in infections are correlative?

so now, mask mandates = mask usage? Have you read this and the mask threads? We have numerous businesses with mandates.

common sense much? you suck at it

I read yesterday that contact tracers in New York City were told not to ask people if they were at Black Morons matter protests.

it's impossible that all of the protests where people from all over were protesting and wearing masks contributed to the spread. they are saying this increase is not clustered...... well the infections had to increase for some reason

just shut the fuck up and listen to others

there is not a single logical argument that infections and hospitalizations are on the rise across the country. a fucking hospital laying off employees has zero, absolutely nil to do with covid hospitalizations. they are being laid off BECAUSE OF covid. Hospitals don't have their regular patients from elective shit.

number of confirmed new coronavirus infections per day in the U.S. to an all-time high of 40,000 — higher even than during the deadliest stretch in April and May.

You're really good at trying to put words in other people's mouths while offering no data or other evidence to support your assertations. I honestly think your lack of intellectual integrity is due to the fact that you just want to argue ad nauseam with anyone and everyone just for the sake of argument. You don't care what the subject is, you just want to pick a differing opinion and argue for the hell of it. I have no interest in it. Come back with data if you want to continue.

The average number of new cases per day has risen about 60 percent over the past two weeks.

While the increase is believed to reflect, in part, greatly expanded testing, experts say there is ample evidence the virus is making a comeback, including rising deaths and hospitalizations in parts of the country, especially in the West.
