I am finding most junkyard axles without calipers. They're required by the EPA to remove anything with leaky fluids... so they remove them and sell them as scrap or to rebuilders. Are you guys finding that junkyard calipers are still usable?
I’ve heard the eBay Timkens aren’t real timkens. I stuck with rock auto timkens. On the topic of rebuilding, I can’t remember if there was a consensus - genuine Ford unit bearings or eBay timkens or parts house? I probably am sticking to 8x170
Same question with ball joints, if not doing a delete setup, do parts house hold up or is it worth the money to go Motorcraft?
I wouldn’t consider anything but Motorcraft for my 21 250 daily, but this is a different situation for a crawler 1/2 the weight and 1/100th the road miles
This is the way!rock auto timkens.
I raced for years on 99-04 SD stuff and the Napa ones were the best value I found. I broke uppers a couple of times during crashes but they lived ok when I wasn’t fucking upFor ball joints I ran “blue boot” Napa premiums in my 44 had way better luck than spicer stuff. So went the same root for the lowers on my 60 but haven’t ran them. They seem to be the same quality as the 44 ones.
Core buyers give them $90-$120 for a set of calipersStill getting them in MI for 300 or less in the right salvage yards... you have to be diligent to find them. Never any brake components on them though
I don't blame them that's for sure....Core buyers give them $90-$120 for a set of calipers
I call bullshit. Reman calipers start way too low for cores to be going for ~$50eaCore buyers give them $90-$120 for a set of calipers
I just turned in a core to the ford dealership a couple weeks back and it was $50 for oneI call bullshit. Reman calipers start way too low for cores to be going for ~$50ea

Only likely to continue with world wide COVID induced shortages in parts and new production being limited or halted by things like strikes. This "new normal" sucks fat cock.This.
If I remember correctly the 10” ring gear will fit in all D60s, including all way back to 1978.I forget if this was discussed, can you run the 10” super 60 ring gear in a 250/350 housing?
Correct all HP60. A few 10in gears are on sale on just differentials...I forget if this was discussed, can you run the 10” super 60 ring gear in a 250/350 housing?
They take the same kits. Nothing specialAnything special needed or just bolt in and go? Are setup kit’s different or anything?
That is what I thought. Thanks!
Then it would have the number 229 cast into the diff not 248... that's the diameter of the ring gear in mm but the op hasn't told us what he has yet.But it could be a 50 too
I apologize for my laziness....I searched the 1st page, didnt' want to search 34 more. It's in here about 5 times by now.... it's the same about 38°
