2006 overland / light duty crawler build

Maybe look into replacing the chain first to see if that helps on the cheap. A 205 is probably your "cheapest" but you're going to lose gearing and probably need new driveshafts.

A ORD Magnum + 205 would give you gearing options back and maybe get you lucky with lengths that your driveshafts stay. But not cheap.
Thanks. Really like the way a geared driven transfer case feels with that direct connection to the pedal, if I have to do new driveshafts it’s not the end of the world I’m probably due to rebuild those anyway. I’m going to look into the ORD

If you're budget minded, looks like NWF has an EcoBox that takes NP271 donor - gut your current chain case and feed it into the EcoBox. Check if it fits the Ford trans pattern, I don't know off the top of my head.

Ahh copy that, I had the perspective of that pic twisted in my mind. You can see my house from pulpit rock. Or I'm assuming since I'm sitting here eating lunch and I can see it, 7 miles away. :emb:

Nice spot

wtf! Where in Colorado are you? Smaller town or more towards Denver
Colorado Springs, nicer part of town though. Quiet neighborhood, no through traffic. A lot of my neighbors didn’t even lock their doors from what I’ve been hearing

Literal pieces of **** man. I have never had any problems at home, but I do live a fair distance from town. last trip I took to KOH in 2024 we stopped for a nap at a hotel in Amarillo TX right off the interstate and a GMC Yukon full of **** suckers jacked all our trail tools out of the UTVs we had on the trailer. One of the guys with me could hear the trailer squeak when they got on the deck and he went down there and ran them off. Thank God he did because the bed of my truck was loaded with stuff. we spent all week on FB marketplace trying to find our ****, but it's gone forever. The cops showed up but they didn't offer any help at all.

If you’re staying in Amarillo get away from the interstate.

That’s so ****ed, kinda stuff that makes me so angry I lose sleep

Talked to my neighbor, they caught em, we’re pressing charges. No word on my wallet, but at least there’s some kind of payback. Still waiting for the day someone breaks into my house. Got a shadow 2 compact with a red dot on my nightstand and a 100lb shepherd waiting for em. Not the best shot, not the worst

Damn, sorry to hear that. It's crazy how many posts I see on the ring app about people being shady in this area, trying car doors and house door
Unfortunate for sure. Wish there was a way to fix it. Any where you go there’s always some asshole ****ing around with other peoples ****.

So I don’t know anything about turbos, but I think that might be my next endeavor, or a super charger. I’d like to hear your thoughts

For me on a truck a screw\roots supercharger makes good sense that you can get the boost right off idle but they are more expensive since they are kinda made just for each application. You can fab something up yourself but just the supercharger itself will be more money than a similar output turbo. Nowadays you can find turbo's cheap on ebay and used, there are multiple sources to help on sizing it to your motor and wants (towing with truck vs high HP car etc.) and turbos are much easier to fit a universal setup on since you can place them where you want vs needing the belt lined up. They don't work quite as well but there are even guys that put the turbo in place of the muffler, add in the newer oilless turbo and remote mounting gets easier vs needing scavenge pump and such.

wasn’t there a supercharger that came on certain models of the 5.4? Was hoping I could shop used and avoid all the exhaust and intercooler work

Yes but not many that would work for you. The whole 2v vs 3v thing for the 5.4 really limits you. The big one was lightnings but 2v there. The 07ish GT500 mustangs were 3v 5.4 I think so you could search for the blower\intake off a wrecked one but they bring a premium since those cars are obviously not a run of the mill mustang. I'm not sure what all would be different your truck 5.4 either.

There were also dealer installed roush kits, saw one on ebay --> Pardon Our Interruption...

I would be tempted if I was you to grab a M112 blower off a older 5.4 or even a 4.6 4v cobra and then fab something up to adapt it to a 5.4 3v M122 intake. The blowers themselves are cheaper but the intake is going to pricey alone. Other option would be to mount it and run an adapter to be more like a diy kit than the factory bolt on style, not sure how to phrase that so I will throw an old 6.2 diesel pic I had saved. This is just to show how the guy fabbed the mounts to make a non stock supercharge fit an engine it was never intended for.

5.4 GT500s are 4 valve, that intake will not swap, there is no OE Ford 3v supercharger manifold. Department of Boost sells an intake manifold to put a GT500 blower on a 5.4 but they themselves state they haven't actually installed it on a truck and it's every bit as expensive as any of the other options, and the Eaton M series blowers are nowhere near as efficient as the Eaton TVS blowers available now.

Whipple appears to have discontinued their setup, that was IMO the best one going for the 3v trucks. Edelbrock still sells their TVS based kit, it's about 8k though.
