Why is littering so common? Someone help me understand.

Plenty of the gringos are are doing their part as well. Leaving work a little while ago, I was sitting in an intersection and watched some real Trailer Park Boys looking folks nonchalantly drop a bag of trash out on the road 20' from a dumpster at the gas station next to us.

I know, I upset some teachers in high school calling someone "niggardly." :laughing: Then I made them look stupid when I made them look up the definition, but they still wanted to be mad at me because it sounds like the unspeakable word :shaking:

Trash is trash, no doubt about it, and no matter the native language, you got me there. Just my casual racism growing up where I did I suppose. (rich coming from a guy that grew up 200 miles farther from the border than you, I know)

That being said, I consider inner city littering a separate issue from the desert/forest dumping of entire trailer loads of construction waste. And while I have seen messkins actually doing that, and 0 whiteys, I will defer to the rest of the thread and admit that I understand that the actual root cause of that problem is our idiotic .gov sponsored trash disposal system being too picky and too expensive.
I guess it's a lot easier for me to hate the individuals I've seen doing it and applying it to culture than to accept the futility in wanting the system itself to change.
 
I had some friends come and stay at my property recently. The GF was bored, so she walked up and down the dirt road I live on and picked up trash. She filled two garbage bags in a1/4 mile. The big construction bags. She still didn’t get it all. This about two years after I took the grand kids on the golf cart and picked up everything for a half mile. Some of the stuff was obviously not just tossed out. They had to stop and unload. I’m at the point of putting cameras up.

My road is not really a through road, so it will be easy to find the people by their car/truck. In my case, I can even search by helicopter. What to do after I determine who it is? Collect a bunch and throw it in their yard with a note saying “you dropped this”.

Maybe a 22 to the tires as they go by? (Might make them pick another route.)

Same here - when I still smoked. Always in my pocket and/or in a bottle filled about 1/3 with some water.

A real pet peeve of mine regarding litter is fishing related trash. I'm constantly picking up fishing line, empty bait jars/tubs, lure packaging and other general trash that the lazy piece of shits leave everywhere.

Lures and lines stuck on shit I get. The other shit I don't. You'd think outdoorsmen wouldn't do that kind of thing.

Smoking smells bad enough as it is, but carrying a pocket full of butts makes the stink 10x+ more intense.

If you're gonna carry them around with you, At minimum do yourself (and others in your vascinity) a favor and toss them in a small ziplock freezer bag. I used the slide-lock ones when camping, they work good and are easy to open/close.

They only go in my pocket when I'm at work, everywhere else i carry a ziplock or dispose of them in trash bins. Smelling like butts is the least of my worries when I'm covered in gear oil, hydraulic fluid and grease for 9 or 10hrs a day. :lmao:

Install those backwards-facing metal spikes (as used in rental car lots) across the road at a choke point. "Gee, my cattle guard not working right. Shame about yor tahrs."

i cant stand littering. it drives me crazy.

so, i live in a curve of a busy road- you know, when you're in the curve no one can see you throw something out. it's bad enough so i put up cameras watching my dirt driveway. the are white, obvious, and not hidden at all.... right next to no trespassing signs. so, i just caught someone over the weekend dumping a box of garbage- cooked/rotted looking chicken quarters and who knows what else at 150pm in broad day light. he parked less than 10 feet from the cam, threw it out, and backed up to the road. i posted screenshots of his truck on good ole facebook community page and he was located in less than 2 hours. unfortunately, it was someone i know grandfather who is 83. anyway, they came and cleaned it up at 7am the next day and he called and apologized.

i've not uncommon for me to pickup two grocery bags of trash when i go to mow along the road. the thing i find the most are pint vodka bottles- like 5 or more so that's probably the same person.
 
Seen many snowflakes eat fasfood in parking lots and just toss everything outside the windows. Last month one in a company truck parked in front of a restaraunt tossed his trash on the walkway going in. Then they parrot climate change hipocracy when they go online

Regardless; as recent as 1970 there were still separate restrooms and water fountains for blacks and whites.

Eh I personally am in work clothes 90 percent of the time. I dont smell great anyway! Lol if im out and about I'll use a trashcan.
