What's new

What did you do for your ford today?

Started a brake job on my Super Duty since the rotors have gotten annoyingly warped and my parking brake hasn't worked in years.

I found out my rear hubs were starting to leak and probably had something to do with my parking brake giving up the ghost.

I also discovered my driver's lower ball joint is smoked too so I decided to buy new ball joints in addition to rear hub seals and bearings. While I was at it, I decided to get a new lock actuator for the passenger door that hasn't worked since I've owned the truck, new window regulators since my windows have been slow and noisy for years, and a new cup holder insert since mine has been broken since I bought it. Ended up blowing $1,100 that all started when I decided to get a new oil fill cap after the clicking mechanism broke :homer: Oh well, the old girl deserves a little loving every now and then…

This was last weekend, got deer damage mostly repaired once i finally found a good used bumper and got it painted.
Went ahead and dropped all the trans fluid and changed filter since cooler was getting changed. Old one wasn't leaking but fog lights pushed condenser into it and broke 3 of the 4 mounts. Went ahead and did ac comp, orfice tube etc since all original and apart as well.

Timken I believe, but I would have to double check my Rockauto order. Still waiting for them to come in.

EDIT: Here's all the crap I ordered. Looks like they are Timken 370247A

Cool, I'd be curious to see what they send, and if its an actual two piece seal, and it its hand install or with driver?

Been fighting with ScotSeal XL on my 97' 10.25 drw leaking, i think spindle is too rough/small.

What I was greeted with just now while warming up the Bronco:

Either the lower hose is loose or water pump bolt or two came loose.
Because that's where it's leaking from.

Beyond those two possibilities; I have no fuggin' clue...:mad3::homer:🙁

It appears the lower hose clamp was loose.

question for the group, if my MS paint skill will co-operate.

Amazon 19mm momentary switch

looking at one of the many generic 3/4" momentary switches without a light attached. pretty sure I want to add to the dash panel where the headlights and wiper switch currently are. Can't seem to find any with the hex shape, roundy is what is around (get it? around  I'm too much :rasta: )

anyways, using pictures that exist on the computer, let me know which is more gooder or if a better spot is obvious

Option 1: add in a single switch up top for a pyramid shape

centered.jpg

option 2: 2 switches, there isn't enough space to have them even top/bottom to the existing so it'd be necked down

two up top.jpg

function would be for overdrive cancel, O/D off light will be located in instrument cluster regardless, as I didn't see a cheap and easy switch to have light up on a seperate control. Don't have a use for the second switch, it'd just be for a "maybe in the future" thing, not sure what to do with it.

Currently looking for one of these.

POS excursion shift tube exploded an hour before packing up Friday, stabbed a dorman special in it and now I have to pop the hood to start it.

Starting circuit is fine Since I can manipulate the switch and it starts. For whatever reason the key doesn’t push the switch enough now.
image.jpg

Little plastic ignition actuator rod that supposedly take six hours to replace seems to be fine.

This turd just might get a push button.

I replaced the tensioner hoping it would fix the intermittent noise that showed up on my commute yesterday. After fighting with it in the cold, cussing a little, and shedding some skin I buttoned it back up, topped off the coolant and fired it up! It's the water pump.

:/

I kinda wondered when I could feel a little end play, but it wasn't making noise when you free spun it. Guess I will be taking part of the day off tomorrow to do a water pump. :homer:

I dropped a 15mm wrench somewhere into the front of it while packing up and for the life of me I can't find it.

Do yourself a favor and buy a FOMOCO one. BTDT Is it tough to shift? I had that once and it was a bad transmission range sensor that lead to a shift column fragging out.

I vote one switch, less clutter.

Dug both of my trucks out of the snow and replaced with batteries in my 6.0 truck with 2 new odyssey batteries at $450 a piece. Both trucks have been sitting since early December so there's a little bit of snow to deal with.

Happy "global warming" has pretty much killed all our snow.

It’s not tight but there is a bit of resistance. Should probably spray some goo on it.

That was it’s second fomoco shift tube. Last summer, again an hour before leaving it disassembled. Grabbed the one from the junk expedition out back.

Slotted the holes and shimmed the ignition switch. Starts fine again.

I recovered the 15mm wrench, but lost an 8mm ratcheting wrench, a 1/4" x 3" extension and an 8mm deep well socket replacing the water pump. Damn near too old to fuck with this shit. 900' of charge air pipes and sharp things in the way, but I got it done. Plugs and coils next because it's about due and why not keep throwing $$ at it?

Drill bit to the distributor, still couldn't get it to sit down all the way. It weren't seated when i got the truck, but they all should be the same so not sure what i'm doing wrong

also did some more wiring

My dually was at work because I have the service truck and will have it for the next week so I drove the 97 to work and swapped trucks. The dually was covered in bird shit from sitting under the canopy at the shop for the last 4 days so I went to the car wash and gave it a good bath seeing as it was a bright sunny day and there was no rain in the forecast until Friday. Drove back to the house enjoying the day and parked it. Not 20min later black clouds rolled in and we got a big thunderstorm out of nowhere. Every fucking time I wash that damn truck it rains...... :shaking: :flipoff:

Double up the distributor gaskets and call it good. Or get a bigger hammer..... :flipoff2:
