What's new

What did you do for your ford today?

Finished cleaning and painting the np435 today. Going to pivot to getting my explorer ready for a run in a few weeks

PS pump high pressure hose and fittings arrived:

After figuring out how to properly fill a manual grease gun (:homer:) ; I greased the tie rods.
Discovered a couple of plugged zerk fittings.

Replacing them will be tomorrow's project.:homer:

I'll be swapping in the OEM brake line on the pass. side I bought but didn't use:

Installed said brake hose; but yet again, failed to get the air out of the system.
As a one-man operation; I guess I'm not doing it right.

Fuck it; I'll let a shop bleed the brakes next month.😠🙄🙁

Fuck that shop noise, vacuum line off the bleeder in a bottle.

Drove 450 miles in Betty for the first time in 2 months, spent an hour under in and in it yesterday so no problems.
30 miles in I start smelling brakes. Stop and look Passenger rear is smoking, prybar backed the tension off and never stuck again.

Get a board that can go between the seat and pedal to hold the pedal depressed.

Open bleeder. Push pedal by hand. Install board. Close bleeder. Remove board. Repeat.

Don't you live in an apartment complex? Pay some kid $10 to push the pedal down. Bonus points if his mom is hawt

I have this to push the pedal:

So; do I push pedal down, then open bleeder?
Or open bleeder first, then push pedal down?

How I've been bleeding:
1) Push pedal down
2) Open bleeder for 5sec
3) Close bleeder
4) Remove pedal-pusher
5) Repeat

Yes. Are you getting any air when you open the bleeder?

Pump pedal 2-3x then use your push stick, then crack the bleeder, should have a release of fluid and/or air when you crack it open
Yes; tiny bubbles.

I'll try that.
I just press the pedal once when I apply the pushrod.

Decided to drive the Bronco into work this morning in case there were puddles/mud at the dirt bike ride spot after work today.

Damn thing ate the distributor gear on the way in :homer:

Soooooo got towed home, threw the bike up onto the trailer and just gonna hope I don't have to do any mudbogging in the Focus :flipoff2:

Hope the cam is fine and I just need to slap another distributor in it. This isn't the first time I've seen this happen to a ford 300 though. Gonna do some research on preventative measures for that.

Get speed bleeders.

put hose on bleeder into jar
crack bleeder open
pump brakes
make sure reservoir stays full.
When bled close bleeder.

80-96 bronco front part # SB71620, size is 7/16 X 20 Rear drum part # SB3824, size is 3/8 X 24

X2 on speed bleeders. So easy, that I’ll flush my brake fluid more often. IDK how it gets so dirty.

Yep, when you push the brake pedal the fluid forces its way past the ball bearing, when you let off the pedal the spring forces it closed.
And when you're done remove the speed bleeders and install normal ones because they rust up real easy with those tiny little moving parts.

I was on a trip a few weeks ago towing the toy hauler with the Excursion. I ended up driving a ways on a dirt road without the trailer, but with the tires pumped up for the load rating. This made it very evident where every rattle was. The doors were one of the main culprits. I found that Ford made an upgraded door latch loop with an integrated bumper. They aren’t cheap, but they work to eliminate the rattle.

Is there anything in/under the dash of a '98 Ranger that's worth holding on to for someone who owns a 93-94?

I know the column is different but what about pedals?

HVAC box the same?

Dash supports and vents?
