Fan belt arrives today.I posted too soon... the shorter fan belt arrives this Tuesday.
I want to install said fan belt to confirm it's length is proper.
Then want to cycle the steering to confirm the 4-bolt gearbox works.
How many cases long is the fan and clutch? Worth a whole case?
I did similar to a 4.9 because reservoir was leaking along with few other items, I left the solenoids in place. Worked great except without the reservoir under extended period of load (like pulling a long hill) the ac would lose vacuum and default to defrost. I resolved by putting a check valve in the line going to the cab.Factory vacuum routing;

I removed the reservoir can because I figured, since I removed my A/C sys, I wouldn't have vacuum issues like you mentioned.I did similar to a 4.9 because reservoir was leaking along with few other items, I left the solenoids in place. Looks like my calculation was correct; bypass A/C pulley with 91" fan belt (stock is 99"):Fan belt arrives today.
We'll see how accurate my calculation was/is.
Nice! What was your measurement method? I used a piece of wire and subtracted 1" from the measurement.. and I was still wrong at least twice +/- when I had to figure out 3 different v-beltsLooks like my calculation was correct; bypass A/C pulley with 91" fan belt (stock is 99"):
I picked two points to measure from (red dots) :Nice! What was your measurement method? I used a piece of wire and subtracted 1" from the measurement.. and I was still wrong at least twice +/- when I had to figure out 3 different v-belts

Those ubolts should probably be square instead of round.Experimenting:
