What's new

What did you do for your ford today?

67 Bronco:
  • Fixed the turn signals (one of the wires was loose, had to add some extra grounds)
  • Installed bikini top

Been cruising it around a bit and need to:
  • replace rear wheel cylinders
  • re-tighten bolts (track bar, steering box, etc) there's something producing a bit of sloppiness.

78 F150:
  • After two years (possibly more :homer:) I finally completed the Vintage Air AC install.. all except charging the system. Waiting for a paycheck to get that done.
  • Found that I need a new battery. Its an GM AGM junkyard pull-out that had been in there at least since I bought the truck in 2017.. gonna buy the same exact one from Walmart.
  • Going to get a 95 Taurus alternator to replace the Bronco Graveyard 1-wire alternator I installed. Ever since I swapped my pulleys out to accomodate the Vintage Air install and Saginaw conversion the 1-wire alternator starter squealing at start up. The Taurus alternator is supposed to have a soft-start regulator.

Gathered more parts for the 1-ton swap:
  • Coil buckets from Battlebornbrakes.com, these bolt right to my frame and let me use super duty coils. They were pricey but now I don't have to "bridge" the bump-stop to coil-mount on the axle side so I can mount the 78 f150 coils.. eliminate a bit of the booty-looking fab.
  • Got all the brake hoses and lines

sweet project. you sure love your receiver hitches :grinpimp: you need a harbor freight buzz box!!

I placed an offer for a Saginaw PS pump bracket/pulley/reservoir cap/and hardware:

They want $190 shipped.
I offered $170 shipped.

I'll know by tomorrow if they accept.🤔
I think I gave $50 for mine with the pump still attached.

Car-part.com, econoline van of correct year power steering pump, then call and let them know you want the bracket with it. :grinpimp:

And if that doesn't work call yards that have an engine or other major assembly off the right vehicle listed and since nobody uses car-part stock numbers for jack shit they inevitably ask you what year/make/model. You then ask them for the bracket and pump.

Is the Saginaw pulley the same diameter as the Bronco PS pulley at the fan belt surface area?

Wondering because I just installed a correct shorter fan belt.
Would I need a different length fan belt once I install the Saginaw pump?🤔

Regarding the PS pump:
I ordered a reman. PS pump with reservoir off Am.azon.
Do I have to buy a retaining bolt for said reservoir?

Looking at pics; it appears only a plastic plug is in place. 🤷‍♂️

It’s an unintentional mission to see just how bad this thing can get. 89ranger It sat all winter because it stopped starting. Gave it new plugs and wires, Two of the plugs broke off requiring an easy out.

Ever since it’s had a sky high start up idle, and a long draw down, I should tend to that before I screw the trans. Percussive maintenance and carb cleaner didn’t fix the iac valve. So I packed a piece of a rag into the idle air port. Starts & idles great no stalling.

Pulled the bed liner to clean under it and discovered that there are holes in the floor of the bed. :homer:

Truck was originally from NY and I got it used @ 3 years old. Shit happens I guess, it has a pile-o-miles on it so...

Put new heater hoses in. When I changed the spark plugs a couple of weeks back, I saw they were leaking. Bought quick release tools, worthless. Bought hose pliers, worthless.
