What's new

What did you do for your ford today?

That's a problem usually related to Non-PI heads, OR an improperly torqued spark plug. Which cylinder?
lol idk, probs improperly torqued :lmao: its #3. it blew out once prior, now that repair blew out. I have one more shot with the time sert "BIG SERT" else its "new" head time :shaking:

Had some time to work on cleaning up the eb manifold, heads and valley. I found the offending rear valley cork gasket blowout. It lasted 10yrs and will be replaced by a nice thick bead of Right Stuff black. Way too much time scraping gasket crap and there’s still a little on the heads. I made 4 dowels to be able to slide it into place nice and even.

This thing is the shit

Made bleeding the brakes on our '90 super easy. Wish i had bought one sooner. It holds like a half gallon of brake fluid, so you can flush the whole system pretty easily.

I'm on their website.

Which red label model number do you have?
The 0107 Ford 3-prong power bleeder?

So that black cap screws onto the brake fluid reservoir?
Fill bottle with brake fluid?
Pressurize said bottle?
And then bleed brakes?
Profit?
The brake system on an 80-96 Ford should gravity bleed just fine. Fill system leaving the cap off. Crack bleeder. Wait for fluid. Close bleeder. Repeat at next bleeder.

You cal also get the air gun and shoot air past the bleeder to help it out a little.

Have one similar. The only thing I don't like is you have to fill it with a decent amount of brake fluid that will not use, so you put it
back in "opened" containers, that you probably shouldn't use down the road as they will probably have water in it by then.
Otherwise, that thing is awesome.

I even tried "pre-bleeding" the fluid and then the supposed factory method of vacuum on the MC, with an old AC pump.
(eventually sucked too much brake fluid fumes in the pump)

Got off my ass and started assembling the tailgate core I've had sitting around for the 85 bronco for a few months.

Ended up needing to order a window motor and snagged a key switch and wiring harness for it on Ebay, so hopefully those come in this week. Other than that, it's fully assembled and I should have a functioning tailgate window in this thing for the first time ever really soon.

Sidenote: Rustoleum "Heirloom White" is a nearly dead perfect match for Wimbledon White if you don't want to pay fucked up Duplicolor prices for paint cans that don't fucking work.

Also found out that the cheap ass tailgate core I bought is an early bullnose stamping that needed mods to fit my latches. Par for the course though.

I got some more time on the eb today. I cleaned everything again and got nice beads of Right Stuff black on each end and slid the lower manifold on the dowels. Then did all the bolts finger tight waited 15-30min, then torqued it to 15. Waited some more and torqued it to 25. I got the distributor back in, connected the injector harness and fuel lines. Filled the radiator. Then realized I was given the wrong gasket for the upper manifold. It’ll be at the local Napa in the morning.

Got the upper intake gasket and everything else installed. Set timing way advanced and drove it. I might bring the timing back down some.

The Excursion was getting a bit of a rattle going down the road. Took the creeper and a rubber mallet and thumped stuff until I found the culprits. The biggest was the passenger side front sway bar bushing had ejected and the bracket was bent and dangling. I put in a new bushing, persuaded the bracket with a bfh in the vice and got everything back in place. The rear sway bar links had no rubber left in them so I replaced those as well. The big heavy Excursion driven hard on mountain roads is hard on these parts. It should be quiet for a while longer.
