What's new

What did you do for your ford today?

I'm gonna do something very similar to that with 2x4x.188 rec tube on my bronco. But with a kind of trapezoid drop down thing to house the license plate and hide the hitch receiver. so something like this.

Why not build the receiver into the bumper?

EDIT: as in get rid of the factory receiver altogether in case that wasn't clear.

That wouldn't be too hard to pull off. The receiver I have on mine is just some random Reese(?) that I yoinked off of dad's 87 and modded a bit to account for bumper differences.

Integrating the receiver would basically gain me a free 2" of clearance on the bottom of the bumper though, so that's not a bad plan at all.

Basically top instead of bottom in what you're getting at?

I am talking about welded into the actual bumper like we did on my father's old EB. The hitch pin installs behind the bumper for maximum departure angle.

For me, I went to buy a receiver tube and the whole mount was $10 more
Good deal if you got the whole receiver for under $30. Steel is expensive these days.

Axle shafts for the Bronco came yesterday, will be finishing up that third member install this weekend.

Used my lunch break to pull the rear axle and position the sterling on the 1-ton swap for my 78 F150. Tomorrow I’ll get it bolted up and throw the tires on finally. After that I have to install the shackle flip, brake lines, drivelines, and then Tesla brake booster.

What master cylinder are you going to use with the Tesla booster?

Yet to be determined. I saw the latest post in that thread where someone asked about using the stock MC from the donor. I was going to see if I could use the stock F150 MC. Admittedly, I need to spend some more time thinking on that part of the project but it’s the last on my list.

Makes sense. Keep us posted on the progress.

I have an iBooster on the shelf that I want to put in my buggy. I was hoping to use a 1-ton mc. I know the 1998 Dodge mc doesn’t fit. I haven’t tried others yet.

nOOB question:
What should I use on the threads of the bolts for water pump and timing cover?
Anti-seize?

Because I found way too many loose bolts I'm going to use Nord-Lock wedge locking washers.
Thoughts?

I wouldn't spend the money on Nord Locks

regular split lock washers and a torque wrench, it'll be good for another 25 years

Inspired by Levigarrett76 ; washed the front of the motorhome and the wife's ford, upgraded from blinds to curtains on the motorhome

Blinds are not cat friendly and half were lazy eyed. Curtains are all hung via cord and hooks in the trim. Always impressed with how well this early fuel injected 460 runs :smokin:

And moved the f350 out of the driveway, back to the yard. Brakes are working as designed, waiting on a couple small things to finish wires, but it's good to do whatever at the moment :smokin:
