Vehicle prices that make you say WTF?

So why did you buy the ford?
I've owned a lot (dozen +) of 1997-2023 Ford pickups. All 3/4 or 1 ton, except for one F150. All were excellent vehicles. Since I decided to move from diesel to gas, I wanted to try out the 7.3. I didn't realize that Ford's fit and finish quality had fallen off a cliff since 2013. It's like 1970 Mopar when it comes to fit and finish. Although, 1970 Mopar probably had better paint and gaps.

damn you sound like you got a friday night second shift after a liquid lunch truck. my 22 f350 platinum is pretty fawking nice. maybe they just fucked you on the poverty package. but my 23 f150 xl with the stx package is pretty nice also for a low end truck. the turning radius sucks though.

This is stupid

The front has coilovers and a pretty expensive looking axle. I wouldn’t pay $30k but you probably couldn’t build it for $30k either.
You can do it for under 30., coilovers aren't break the bank expensive. Looks like a regular kp axle. maybe there's spidertrax axles in there? Idk.. i don't see 32 grand sitting there.

Counting the crazy price of a clean taco to start with?

That thing was probably built in '06, and you're pricing it all out like it's '16.

Clean and bone stock that's a $25k truck in '24. $30k is a "good deal".

Clean Tacoma: $15k all day long
Axle builds: $3k on the low end
Steering: $1k on the low end
Tires/wheels: Probably $5k these days
suspension: $3K at least

Now we're at $27k and haven't broken a sweat.

Add $4k for a crawler and driveshafts... now we're at $31K and then the accessories start coming into play.

someone will say "i can build junkyard stuff for x,y,z" like it's still 2012.

Sure as hell wouldn't sell my xtracab for anywhere near the price of the one listed... I'd need closer to $50k to get interested in selling.

6.2 = 6 speed and XL takes away the big spenders.

Get the carfax and check for ownership or services being done in southwest TX

Lots of ex oilfield trucks in that 6.2/XL config floating around these days. I picked a similar one up in supercab form for real cheap. It looks real clean but if you look close it definitely has been through some shit

Look at the hour meter too - long idle time can show it's an ex-oilfield truck from up north.

That’s roughly what they go for, low 20s. Extra cabs go for mid to upper teens. That’s all for work trucks once you get into xlt add another 5k then lariat and up add another 10k or more.

7.3 trucks I haven’t seen cheaper than mid 30s, but also haven’t seen one with over 100k for sale yet either.

He'll get it. That's damned clean.
I doubt it. I had a 2002 CCSB 7.3l 163k miles 4x4. I sold it for $23,250 about a year ago. My truck was nicer in every way than that one other than nostalgia. New leather interior with updated seats from newer Superduty. Completely sound deadened and insulated interior, backup camera. Had receipts from previous owner within the past 20k miles of $15,000 of maintenance including a rebuilt trans less than a year old. So the truck was very well cared for. Zero drips and leaks and no gooseneck. Body was clean too. It took me 2 months to get that. The crew cab has so much more desirability than an excab.
