Tourist submarine exploring Titanic wreckage disappears in Atlantic Ocean

Since you waded through the BS, can you bring the interesting stuff here for us?
I wish I woulda screenshoted stuff, my bad

That thread exploded from 20 to 60+ pages today, anything good I come across from henceforth shall be copypasta’d here 🤙🏻

Yeah I was blown away by that. I guess they have an answer, but I thought most of these small subs/ROVs were hooked up to a crane and lifted onto/from the deck of the support ship as part of the standard operation. I wonder how they handle the logistics on this thing with no attachments
See, one of those 50 yo white guys would’ve been smart enough to add a hooking point on this death trap.

Ahh, so that platform submerges, the craft floats on or off, then it pumps the water out and floats itself? Then the craft just chills on that thing and gets towed around (or dragged onboard the support vessel?). I hadn't searched for pics, super interesting.

Good point. I think I read that front section (with the window) is titanium, but that's nowhere near the COG so attachment points up there would be pretty useless
Yeah but how well does that work in rough seas?

I'll bet there are no through hull fittings, all wireless. I'd laugh if it was dead batteries in the controller that caused the problem. I did not see any safety surface mechanism like a small balloon with a fill cartridge on the outside released by remote solenoid :homer:. It's a fuggin can with a wireless electric motor strapped on the back
And everything made in China.

Describing the five-person capacity sub, he told Sky News: "You cannot stand, you cannot kneel, you only sit in the same spot for 10-and-a-half hours. You can't be afraid to touch other people because your legs are like a snake because it was so small.

"Nothing was comfortable."

When asked about whether he thought Titan was safe, he said: "Today, I have to change my meaning. no, it was not safe, two years ago it had another meaning. But I know what happened with my dive."

The search for the 21ft vessel, operated by OceanGate, is continuing.

Mr Loibl said his journey down to the wreck took around two-and-a-half hours and that his dive spent three hours exploring around the wreck.

He said: "Everyone was nervous - could we reach the bottom or could we return - because sometimes before they had problems with their battery systems by 1,600m... so they have to go back and that was the last possibility in 2021 to make this dive and when we got down, everyone was nervous."

Anybody hear of a link to east Palestine spill? Could be total bs

Edit, from my sis who is a goof sometimes and sometimes 100%on point

(1) I haven't heard anything about how they did thru-hull fittings although someone alluded to wireless connections. But there is stuff mounted outside the cylinder, prolly including O2 tanks/scrubbers, so there must be some thru hole fittings. What type of rubber grommet from Vatozone handles that kind of pressure?

(2) Also haven't heard anything about climate control. Heated? Cooled? There is definitely some equipment inside the cylinder and under the floor.

O2 has run out. Estimates were between 5 am and 6 am this morning, so if they weren't dead already, they are now.

As for temps, it's cold at the bottom, but 5 men in a little capsule would have been sweating their ass off and the whole thing covered in condensation on the inside. It would be a bad way to go, but I am still on the theory of it imploded and they have been dead since Sunday. When they find the wreckage next month we will know the tale.

When do they throw in the towel? They're dead now, so it's a recovery operation. But if they don't find it within, how much time do they call it off?

Just had a little FB war over how cruel the memes are.

If it were me and my mates down there I’d fully expect the memes and could care less

They knew the risks and everything that comes with that stuff, including the ridicule

They're only dead if there was five of them breathing the whole time.

If they killed 3/5 how long do they have left?
I figure the father/son killed the rest and the father is now trying to convince the son to kill him too so the kid can possibly live to tell the tale with lifetime therapy and a deep fear of the oceans.

Another bizarre design point of that thing. Navigation was performed by the mothership and information was relayed to the craft by occasional text message. Talk about putting all of your eggs in one basket. Talk about someone driving cross country and taking instructions from someone watching your progress on Google earth from their laptop, and using their cell to tell you what to do next.

By the way, what capability is needed to send text messages underwater?

The CEO must have had some really unpleasant time down there when things first went awry and the passengers realized that they were fucked.

Must be because the timer went 00:00. All I’m seeing on FB now is people “shaming” the people making memes jokes and making light of the situation. If it were me, and I do like to do dumb stuff. Please by all means, make fun of me and whoever is with me.
